About this opportunity

This federal grant opportunity, titled "Fostering Accountability through Whistleblowers," is an open competition for organizations to submit applications for a project to fight corruption in North Macedonia. The goal is to maximize whistleblower reporting and support the implementation of the country's whistleblowers law. The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs is the funding agency, with the aim of increasing reports of misconduct through established channels without retribution, while enforcing whistleblower protections under the law. The evaluation will focus on the applicant's ability to train law enforcement and prosecutors on supporting whistleblowers, design programs to encourage institutions to take responsibility for misconduct, and build capacity and credibility among authorities who receive whistleblower reports.

The anticipated award amount is up to $200,000 for a single 18-24 month project. The deadline for submission of applications is November 1, 2024, and the project will be implemented in North Macedonia under the Criminal Justice Systems federal grant program (CFDA 19.703) managed by the Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
