About this opportunity
The Okahumpka Community Club, Inc. is seeking competitive sealed bids for Phase-2 of the Okahumpka Historic Rosenwald School Restoration Project, specifically for constructing the Virgil Darnell Hawkins Community Center in Lake County, Florida. The project involves building a single-story Concrete Masonry Unit facility, with comprehensive requirements spanning 17 detailed bid line items including doors, windows, electrical systems, plumbing, roofing, site work, and landscaping. Qualified contractors must be licensed, insured, and experienced, with responsibilities including securing Lake County building permits, completing site preparation, and executing final landscaping. Bidders are required to submit detailed proposals with individual line-item budgets covering labor and materials, with a unique materials donation from James Hardie Building Products for exterior and interior construction. The proposal deadline is August 12, 2025, with questions to be submitted to okahumpkacommunityclubinc@gmail.com. Contractors must be prepared to work within the funding agencies' policies, specifically the Florida Department of State's Historic Resources division and Lake County Community Development Block Grant requirements.
The procurement appears open to all qualified contractors, with no specific set-aside designations mentioned. The project is funded through grants totaling an unspecified amount from the Florida Department of State's Historic Resources division and a Lake County Community Development Block Grant. James Hardie Building Products is providing a materials donation, which means contractors should only factor in labor costs for installing their products. Bidders must demonstrate familiarity with job site conditions and be prepared for potential bid revisions based on final construction documents. The project emphasizes historical preservation and community development, with an expectation that contractors will collaborate closely with project stakeholders. While a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the project involves comprehensive construction of a community center with multiple complex systems and infrastructure components. Contractors will need to comply with federal labor standards, including Davis-Bacon Act wage requirements and detailed payroll documentation.
