About this opportunity

San Bernardino County Department of Public Works is requesting sealed bids on a motorized gate and pedestrian walk gate replacement project at the Fontana Transportation Yard, with proposals due July 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and a non-mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for July 1, 2026 via video teleconference.

Bidders must hold a Class A or Class C-13 Contractor's license issued by the California Contractors State Licensing Board, which must remain active from contract award through project acceptance. All contractors and subcontractors must register with the California Department of Industrial Relations prior to bid submission. The County's Emerging Small Business Enterprise (ESBE) Program encourages small business, DBE, and DVBE participation as prime or subcontractors but does not mandate utilization, impose subcontracting goals, or require tracking or reporting unless specified in project documents.

The scope is replacement of the existing gate at 17618 Arrow Boulevard, Fontana, with a motorized gate and pedestrian walk gate. Work is performed in accordance with Caltrans 2024 Standard Specifications and Standard Plans and is subject to prevailing wage requirements as determined by the California Department of Industrial Relations. The project must comply with California Air Resources Board In-Use Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Fleets Regulation, Build America Buy America Act domestic content preference, and Cargo Preference Act provisions. Contractors must notify underground service alert operators at least two working days prior to any excavation work.

Bidder security must equal at least ten percent of the bid amount in the form of cash, cashier's check, certified check, or a bidder's bond. Both performance and payment bonds must equal one hundred percent of the total contract price. Contract award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder within 60 days of proposal opening. The successful bidder must execute the contract and provide performance and payment bonds within 10 days of receiving contract documents. Bids may be submitted electronically through the County's ePro system or in hard copy. Bid results will be posted within five working days of the bid opening on the County's procurement website.
