About this opportunity

DeKalb County, Georgia is soliciting proposals for a multiyear contract (RFP 2025-046) to provide comprehensive 911 ambulance services through a competitive Request for Proposal process. The procurement specifically seeks qualified ambulance service providers to work with DeKalb County Fire Rescue in delivering emergency medical services, including 911 response, Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) patient transport. The scope of services encompasses emergency ambulance operations with an emphasis on system efficiency, potentially including supplementary services like a nurse hotline. Prospective vendors must demonstrate significant capability in emergency medical service delivery and integration with local public safety infrastructure, including fire departments, law enforcement, hospitals, and healthcare organizations. The solicitation was posted on April 21, 2025, with proposals due by July 2, 2025, indicating a procurement timeline of approximately ten weeks for vendors to prepare and submit comprehensive response packages. Key objectives include enhancing functional integration across various emergency and healthcare service providers while maintaining high-quality, responsive emergency medical services for DeKalb County residents.

While specific set-aside designations are not explicitly detailed in the provided documentation, the solicitation appears structured to be open to qualified ambulance service providers with demonstrated operational capabilities. The contract is structured as a multiyear agreement, suggesting potential long-term stability for the selected vendor(s). No incumbent vendor information or specific budget ranges were included in the original procurement documentation. The proposal seeks to create a comprehensive emergency medical services partnership that goes beyond traditional ambulance transport, potentially including innovative service delivery mechanisms like nurse hotline support. Vendors will likely need to demonstrate significant operational infrastructure, including appropriate medical equipment, trained personnel, and technological systems capable of integrating with existing county emergency response networks. The procurement appears designed to select one or potentially multiple ambulance service providers capable of meeting DeKalb County's complex emergency medical service requirements.
