About this file
This document is an Amendment to Solicitation Number W912DS24B0003 for the Maintenance Dredging of Fire Island Inlet and Shores Westerly to Jones Inlet Beach Erosion Control and Navigation Project. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposes to dredge approximately 700,000 to 1,000,000 CY of sand from the Fire Island Inlet Federal Navigation channel and deposit it as nourishment along Gilgo Beach in Suffolk County, New York. The project is scheduled to be dredged to a depth of 14 feet plus 2 feet allowable over-depth. The purpose is to maintain the project dimensions and provide safe navigation for commercial and recreational boating. The contractor must commence work within 5 calendar days of the Notice to Proceed and complete the basic work within 97 calendar days, maintaining an integrated production of at least 13,500 cubic yards per day. The work is estimated to cost between $15,000,000 and $50,000,000, and the government intends to award the contract in May 2024 with a Notice to Proceed in the first week of October 2024. Liquidated damages of $2,390.00 per calendar day will be assessed for delays.
