About this file
This document outlines calibration protocols for field equipment used in environmental monitoring at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District intends to issue a Request for Proposal for environmental remediation services at Fort Belvoir with a total contract value of $45 million. Services will include environmental compliance, restoration, conservation, pollution prevention and management. Specific requirements encompass air and water quality monitoring, hazardous and solid waste handling, remediation of contaminated soils and groundwater, construction, and cultural and natural resource surveys. Offerors must register in the System for Award Management to participate in this procurement, which is scheduled for award by September 2019. The contract will utilize single-award task orders with a minimum guarantee of $15,000 over one base year and four option years.

Calibration Protocols pH Meter pH readings are taken in the field at every outfall using the HACH Pocket Pro + meters o Record both the pH and temperature readings from the meter in the field notebook
Samplers must complete an Individual Demonstration of Capability (IDC) before taking a pH reading in the field o Contact Ed Kabay or Juliette Giordano to complete an IDC pH meters are calibrated within 24 hours of any potential sampling event o Before sampling perform a three-point calibration using known solutions of 4.01, 7.00, and 10.01
A post sampling test of each meter is performed with 24 hours of sampling effort completion o The post sampling readings are taken with the known solutions of 4.01, 7.00, and 10.01
Specific Conductivity Meter
Specific conductivity readings are taken in the field at REPs 002, 008, 009, 015, and 032 using the ExTech Instruments ExStikII meters o Record both the specific conductivity and temperature reading from the meter in the field notebook
Specific conductivity meters are calibrated within 24 hours of any potential sampling event o Before sampling, perform a three-point calibration using known solutions of 84 µs, 1413 µs, and 12.88 ms
A post sampling test of each meter used in the field is performed within 24 hours of sampling effort completion o The post sampling readings are taken with the known solutions of 84 µs, 1413 µs, and
12.88 ms
Dissolved Oxygen Meter
Dissolved oxygen (DO) readings are taken in the field at REP 002 using either the YSI EcoSense
DO200A or Milwaukee MW 600 Smart DO meters o Record DO in mg/L, % saturation, and temperature readings from the meter in the field notebook
Samplers must complete an Individual Demonstration of Capability (IDC) before taking a DO reading in the field o Contact Ed Kabay or Juliette Giordano to complete an IDC
DO meters are calibrated within 24 hours of any potential sampling event o Meters are calibrated using distilled water in the office after the meter has been turned on and allowed to sit for a minimum of 30 minutes
Calibration Records
Calibration records are maintained at the RES office in a composition book with bound pages
Meter serial number, date, time and initials for person(s) performing the calibration are recorded in the notebook and are available upon request
