1.4 SUBMITTALS
Government approval is required for submittals with a "G" designation;
submittals not having a "G" designation are for information only. When used, a designation following the "G" designation identifies the office that will review the submittal for the Government. Submit the following in accordance with Section 01 33 00 SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES:
SD-01 Preconstruction Submittals
Schedule Of Proposed Concrete Production And Placement
Submit weekly updates of the Contractor's proposed schedule of concrete placement for the work under this contract.
SD-07 Certificates
Qualifications; G, RE
Written documentation for Contractor Quality Control personnel.
1.5 QUALIFICATIONS
Contractor Quality Control personnel assigned to concrete construction shall be American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certified in one of the following grades:
QC Field Technician, Concrete Field Testing Technician, Grade I
The foreman or lead journeyman of the flatwork finishing crew shall have similar qualification for ACI Concrete Flatwork Technician/Finisher, with written documentation.
1.6 SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1.6.1 Government-Furnished Concrete
All concrete required for construction of the Upper Guard Wall and Lower Guard Wall, except concrete for precast components, will be furnished by the Government as specified in Section 03 30 00.50 CONCRETE: PRODUCTION AND TRANSPORT. The Contractor will be required to accept the concrete at the specified Points of Delivery and convey it to the placement locations as specified in Section 03 30 00.50 CONCRETE: PRODUCTION AND TRANSPORT.
1.6.2 Concrete Plans
Concrete plans shall be submitted to the Contracting Officer for comment
SECTION 03 30 00.10 Page 3 and approval 90 days prior to the start of concrete placement for any phase of the concrete work. The plan shall be specific to that phase of concrete work and shall describe the equipment and methods to be used for concrete conveyance, placement, consolidation, finishing and protection. The timing and sequence of the various steps from batching until protection shall also be described. The plan shall demonstrate that equipment and methods are appropriate for the specific type of concrete, and that the work conforms to the requirements of Division 03 CONCRETE.
1.6.3 Coordination Meetings
A pre-construction meeting with the Contracting Officer and representatives from the contractor responsible for producing the concrete and conveying it to the Points of Delivery will be required at least 30 days prior to the start of concrete placement for any phase of the concrete work. In addition, weekly progress meetings with the Contracting Officer will be required as concrete work progresses. The Contractor shall be responsible for calling the meeting; the Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, Concrete Foreman, Batch Plant Production Manager, and active construction and quality control personnel shall be present.
1.6.4 Coordination of Production and Delivery
The Contractor shall prepare a schedule of proposed concrete production and placement for the work under this contract covering a period of at least 30 calendar days. The schedule shall be updated on a weekly basis and submitted to the Contracting Officer. The contractor for the Charleroi Contract One will also be required to submit a schedule of proposed concrete placement under that contract and update it on a weekly basis.
The Contracting Officer will be responsible for coordination of the schedules. In the event of conflict between the proposed schedules for concrete placement under Charleroi Contract One and the Charleroi Upper and Lower Guard Walls Contract, the schedule for Charleroi Contract One will take precedence. Placement of concrete upstream of the dam shall be completed first unless otherwise specified; concrete placement downstream of the dam shall not commence until all concrete has been placed upstream of the dam, except concrete for the Lower Guard Wall demonstration drilled shaft only may be placed concurrent with the placement of concrete upstream of the dam. Concrete production will only be performed one 8-hour shift per day, weekdays (Monday throuugh Friday) only. Concrete will not be produced on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
1.7 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1.7.1 Tolerances
Except as otherwise specified herein or noted on the drawings, tolerances for concrete construction as well as definition of terms and application practices shall be in accordance with ACI 117.
Level and grade tolerance measurements of slabs shall be made as soon as possible after finishing. When forms or shoring are used, the measurements shall be made prior to removal. Tolerances are not cumulative. The most restrictive tolerance controls. Tolerances shall not extend the structure beyond legal boundaries. Except as specified otherwise, plus tolerance increases the amount or dimension to which it applies, or raises a level alignment and minus tolerance decreases the amount or dimension to which it applied, or lowers a level alignment. A tolerance without sign means plus or minus. Where only one signed tolerance is specified, there is no limit
SECTION 03 30 00.10 Page 4 in the other direction.
The definitions of the terms used in the following tabulations are used as defined and used in ACI 117. Level and grade tolerance measurements of slabs shall be made as soon as possible after finishing.
