The Prophet system consists of the Control and the issued number of Sensors. This class will give you a general understanding of the system, its components, and the required PMCS. This general knowledge will be built upon as the course progresses.

Terminal Learning Objective - Identify capabilities of the Prophet Control. Terminal Learning Objective

NOTE: Inform the students of the following Terminal Learning Objective requirements.

At the completion of this lesson, you [the student] will:

Action:

Identify capabilities of the Prophet Control.

Conditions:

Given access to the Prophet Control mission equipment, student guide, JTK17 toolkit, AN/TSQ-248 PT LITE, PT LITE TM, TM 32-5895-1828-13, TB 32-5895-1828-23-1 and TB 32-5895-1828-10-1.

Standards:

All subsystems of Prophet Control are identified.

Safety Requirements

1. Issue safety warnings on the whip antennas.

a. Never erect SINCCARS antenna directly under power lines.
b. Do not erect SINCGARS antenna in winds over 30 knots.
c. AN/VRC-99A/B antennas must be separated by a horizontal distance of at least 10 meters.
d. Use caution when handling the whip antenna.

2. Issue safety warnings on RF radiation. SINCGARS emit high frequency electromagnetic radiation. Do not stand near or touch the antenna when transmitting.

3. Issue safety warnings on electrical systems.

a. Ensure equipment power is off prior to disconnecting/reconnecting any power, ground, or signal cables to avoid shock hazard.
b. High voltage may remain in capacitors after power has been removed.
c. Ensure cables are aligned with connectors to avoid damage to connector pins.
d. Do not switch SEP breaker to ON until W28 AC power cable is connected to J1 port.

4. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry while near the Prophet Control vehicle.

5. Handling the Transit Case is a lifting hazard. The Transit Case requires a three-man lift outside and a two-man lift inside the vehicle.

6. WARNING: The fire suppression system can cause frostbite, and hearing damage. Always wear protective gear including hearing and eye protection, helmet, and protective clothing to minimize exposure of bare skin during operation if the fire suppression system is activated. The fire suppression system should only be activated in combat situations. When in a non-combat situation, the system power must be off, the distribution nozzles removed, and the protective caps emplaced. The fire suppression system may not protect against all types of fires.

Risk Assessment Level

Low

Environmental Considerations

NOTE: It is the responsibility of all Soldiers and DA civilians to protect the environment from damage.

No adverse environmental impacts have been determined.

Evaluation

The terminal learning objective will be measured through the successful completion of the practical exercises in this lesson.

Instructional Lead-In

In this lesson, we will discuss the primary functions and capabilities of the Prophet Control system. You will soon be able to identify all subsystems including the transit case. Let’s get started.
