About this file
This document is a comprehensive design-build study for the Norfolk County Correctional Center, as part of the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) Statewide Accessibility Initiative. The study identifies several toilet rooms that require modifications to comply with the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board (MAAB) and 2010 ADA Standards, including installing accessible toilets, sinks, and providing clear maneuvering space in the Visitation, Programs, Classrooms, Kitchen/Laundry, Medical, and Administration areas. The contractor is required to design and cost toilet rooms to meet accessibility requirements, with DCAMM determining the feasibility of the designs. If a design is not feasible, MAAB variances or alternate solutions may be required.
The related state and local contract opportunity is an Energy Design-Build RFP issued by the Norfolk Sheriff's Office in Dedham, MA, pursuant to Chapter 25A 11c. This RFP seeks a contractor to finalize the design, install, and commission various energy conservation measures, including LED lighting, water controls, HVAC upgrades, solar photovoltaics, and other building improvements.

Norfolk County Correctional Center June 6, 2016 Comprehensive Design Build Study SDN1501E-ES1 DCAMM Statewide Accessibility Initiative
NOTE: The following toilet rooms are scheduled to have existing toilets replaced with low-flow toilets. The MAAB (521CMR) requires that all newly installed fixtures in toilet rooms under their jurisdiction comply with MAAB requirements for toilet height, distance from wall, flush controls, and clear maneuvering space. In most of the toilet rooms listed, renovation or expansion of the toilet room is required. All work must comply with both 521CMR MAAB and the 2010 ADA Standards. Generally the MAAB is more stringent and should be used but where the ADA Standards provide a greater degree of accessibility, those regulations shall be used. The toilet room reference letters correspond with the attached keyed drawing.
