ASI 57 Modified Polyurethane
Description:
ASI 57 Modified Polyurethane Sealant Adhesive is a one-part, Elastomeric RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) hybrid material that combines technology to produce a material with many of the same characteristics of silicones and polyurethanes but with better performing characteristics. Unlike many polyurethanes ASI 57 contains no solvents or isocyanates which makes it VOC compliant. Due to the formulation, ASI 57 works well for a variety of applications. ASI 57 is a non-slump sealant and can be applied to vertical or overhead surfaces without flowing or sagging. ASI 57 also has excellent resistance to weathering including ozone, ultra-violet radiation, freeze-thaw conditions and airborne chemicals. ASI 57 cures fast at a variety of temperatures. ASI 57 is also paintable and is extremely resistant to yellowing.

substrate)
Common Bonding Substrates:
ASI 57 can be used on a variety of substrates that are not listed below. Please inquire or test on those substrates. We have listed some common substrates for your viewing:
| • | Aluminum |
| • | Ceramics |
| • | Painted Surfaces |
| • | Glass |
| • | Granite |
| • | Marble |
| • | Metals |
| • | Most Woods |
| • | Most Plastics |
| • | Porcelain |
| • | PVC |
| • | Porous Surfaces (Concrete, Brick, Etc.) |
| • | Etc. (substrates may vary depending upon applica- |
tion)
Directions:
ASI 57 is ready to use and requires no mixing or additives. Higher humidity accelerates cure. Tooling, if necessary, should be done before skinning takes place. In applications where partial or total confinement of sealant is prevalent, the time required for proper cure is generally lengthened by the degree of confinement.
Surface Preperation:
All surfaces should be clean and dry. If necessary bonding surfaces can be solvent wiped with naphthas, ketones or chlorinated solvents. Specific solvents would include xylol, toluol and mineral spirits. In case of plastics, determine suitability of solvent prior to use. Allow surface to dry thoroughly before applying sealant. Do not solvent wipe with alcohols or oil-containing solvents such as Varsol. Priming for ASI 57 is not normally required for applications to nonporous surfaces. Unprimed adhesion can be easily tested by applying a small trial bead and allowing 7 days for maximum adhesion to occur. If primer is required, contact ASI.
Colors:
ASI 57’s colors are white, aluminum/grey and black. Other colors available upon request.
Packaging:
ASI 57 is supplied in:
(10.2 fI. oz.) caulking cartridge, (5 gal) pail and (55 gal) drum.
Special Packaging Available upon requests.
Listed Properties:
Storage:
ASI 57, when stored in original, unopened container at or below 32°C (90°F), has a shelf life of 9 months from date of manufacture.
Conforms, Meets and Exceeds:
Conforms to ASTM C920, Type S, Grade NS, Class 50, Use T, NT, I, G and A. AAMA 802.3 Type II Back Bedding Compound. USDA accepted.
Warranty Limitations:
ASI warrants only that its products will meet its specifications. ASI shall in no event be liable for incidental or consequential damages.
Except as expressly stipulated, ASI’s liability, expressed or implied is limited to the stated selling price of any defective goods.
Information on this data sheet can change without notice and it is therefore not recommened that these figures be used in spec writing. If you have any questions contact manufacturer.
Safety Precautions:
Use with adequate ventilation. Inhalation of vapors during application and cure may cause slight eye or throat irritation. In case of contact with eyes, lips or mouth, flush thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, consult a physician. Avoid repeated, prolonged contact with skin. See MSDS for additional information. Keep out of reach of children.
