RIDE CONTROL SYSTEM SCF BEARING SUPPORT
1.0 ABSTRACT:
1.1 This item describes Single Cantilever Foils inner bearing support replacement.

5.0 NOTES:
5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTR’s.
5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier are advised to review other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. Many of the definitions relating to performance of this work item are found in Work Item 001.
5.3 The purpose of this work item is to install a single cantilevered foil main bearing support similar to installed on JHSV-6 and following vessels. Austal USA is required for installation guidance and instruction as the OEM for the JHSV class.
6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None additional.
7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
7.1 Contractor shall furnish an AUSTAL USA Authorized Service Representative to provide supervision and direction for the following.
7.2 All special tools, jigs, rigging equipment and fittings shall be provided by contractor.
7.3 Furnish labor and materials to replace the port and starboard Single Cantilever Foil (SCF) main bearing housing outboard support wedges (ref 2.1, items 15) with orange chockfast. Provide installation procedure to ABS surveyor and MSCREP for approval prior to start of work.
Note: Ship currently has mechanical wedges installed as the SCF main bearing outboard support. This work item replaces these wedges with orange chockfast.
7.3.1 Contractor shall provide a chockfast certified installation representative to perform chockfast installation.
7.3.2 Chockfast shall be installed in accordance with ABS approved drawing, reference 2.4. Ensure a minimum chockfast depth of 200mm as measured from the inner flange.
7.3.2.1 Checkpoint: Chockfast prep, installation and final inspections shall be performed by MSCREP and ABS.
7.3.3 Perform all removals including but not limited to: pedestal bearings, foils, shafts, hydraulics, quadrants and disassemble main bearings in order to remove load from bearing housing. Reinstall upon setting of chockfast.
7.4 Ensure pedestal bearings and shafts remain in alignment during chockfast installation.
7.5 Fabricate and install one (1) each starboard pedestal bearing base and mounting block, ref 2.2 item numbers 11 and 12. Machine mounting surface angle, space and drill bolt and dowel holes in each block to provide pedestal bearing alignment.
7.5.1 Procure and install one (1) new CFM pedestal bearing on the starboard side.
7.5.1.1 Checkpoint: Pedestal bearing alignment, shimming and torqueing shall be witnessed by ABS and MSCREP.
7.6 Measure and provide readings of port and starboard SCF alignment and bearing clearance by dial indicator or bearing clearance measurement.
7.7 Fabricate and install aluminum chockfast cover plate mounting to existing bolt holes of removed wedges. Plate shall be split to permit removal from shaft.
7.8 Perform an inspection of Ride Control System Hydraulic System.
7.9 Furnish a condition Report of Findings and work performed.
