WATERJET MAINTENANCE
1.0 ABSTRACT:
1.1 This item describes maintenance of for Wartsila Waterjet units.

5.0 NOTES:
5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTR’s.
5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier are advised to review other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. Many of the definitions relating to performance of this work item are found in Work Item 001.
5.3 The Shipyard shall furnish, fabricate, procure as necessary, all tools and equipment recommended by the O.E.M. Wartsila to perform the removals and installations. This includes all lifting and rigging equipment.
QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None Additional
STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
5.4 The Shipyard shall furnish the services of a Wartsila Technical Representative to oversee and perform all waterjet work described by this work item.
5.5 Perform UT Shearwave inspection of welds identified on all four Waterjet Jetavator Reversing Plates. Reference 2.4 and 2.5
5.6 Remove Waterjet #2 Jetavator and Seat Ring for Inspection.
5.6.1 Use Wartsila Guidance per Reference 2.3. Do not remove shaft or shaft Vulkan Coupling.
5.6.2 Return Jetavator and Seat Ring with contractor furnished seals and gaskets.
5.6.3 Perform cleaning, polish, NDT dye penetrant inspection of impeller lead and trailing blades IAW instruction within.
5.7 During dry docking, the water in the stator bowl must be drained. Neglecting this can cause corrosion damage.
5.8 The contractor shall perform Waterjet to vessel hull isolation electrical continuity readings. Readings shall be recorded in Megohms and provided to MSC Rep. Readings shall be witnessed by Chief MSCREP. All Readings shall be taken with vessel out of the water and shaft seals drained of water. Readings shall include Hull to Jetavator, Hull to Shaft, Hull to Thrust Bearing, Hull to Shaft Seal. For any disassembly these readings shall be taken upon assembly and prior to shaft seal hydro testing and vessel entering water.
5.9 Perform Water Lubricated Bearing and Shaft Clearance readings for all four units.
5.9.1 The Water Lubricated Bearing readings shall be taken using the feeler gauge method at the 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 (o-clock) positions per the O.E.M. instruction.
5.9.2 Take measurements of the clearance between blade tips of the impeller and the seat ring (housing of the impeller) prior to any disassembly and upon re-assembly. Readings shall be recorded and submitted to the MSCREP via condition report.
5.9.3 ABS, MSCREP shall witness all readings.
5.10 Furnish materials to inspect and rebuild one Shaft Seal to be determined by MSCREP. Shaft Seal faces shall be re-used unless determined to be not suitable. Shaft Seal if required shall be GFE.
5.11 Inspect Ground wires on Jetavators.
5.11.1 Furnish and replace four (4) EA Ground Wires.
5.12 Contractor shall build scaffolding underneath the vessel at each Waterjet Duct inlet and Jetavator to provide inspection and access at all times vessel is in dry-dock. Scaffolding shall be installed within 72 hours of vessel docking. This is in addition to operator assisted lift equipment.
5.13 Clean The Water Jet Shafts and Impellers
5.13.1 Jetavator shall be thoroughly cleaned of all barnacles and sea growth using 2500 PSI Water Jet Blast and cleaning tools.
5.13.2 Apply 3 coats of Rydlyme to shaft and impeller and allow soak for 30 minutes between applications.
5.13.3 Inspect shaft blades for imperfections.
5.13.4 Perform NDT dye penetrate examination of each impeller. Dye-check the blade palms and the blade leading and trailing faces. NDT shall be observed by the MSCREP and ABS Surveyor.
5.13.5 Provide a condition report of all findings.
5.14 Clean the removed Seat Ring. Prepare external surface and repair coating using International Intersleek 970 Coating System to match existing. Coating shall be applied in accordance with Wartsila surface profile requirement.
5.15 Clean hull transom Seat Ring seating surface, coat with two applications of epoxy Intergaurd 264.
5.16 Re-install Seat Ring in accordance with OEM Recommendations using 2.3 as guidance and contractor furnished seal.
5.17 Furnish and replace all Waterjet Jetavator Steering and Reversing Cylinder Hydraulic Hoses.
5.17.1 Jetavator installed Steering and Reversing Hydraulic Hoses shall be O.E.M. replacement hoses.
5.17.2 Vessel’s Transom to Jetavator Steering and Reversing Hoses shall be Parker 722-16 4000 PSI. No substitutes without MSCREP authorization.
5.17.3 All hoses shall be pre-tested, tagged with stainless ID to identify test pressure and date of test.
5.17.4 Contractor shall furnish a hydraulic hose list include hose, type, fitting designation for each end, size diam, length, test pressure. Each hose shall be identified individually. The hose schedule shall be included in the Representatives final report.
5.17.5 All removed hoses shall be drained, ends capped and retained onboard vessel for spares.
5.18 Wartsila Rep shall perform an inspection of the current collector.
5.18.1 Contractor shall furnish and replace current collector contacts/brushes for all four shafts and perform a general maintenance of the system.
5.19 Wartsila Rep shall inspect and perform calibration of Steering and Reversing systems. Follow-up and Non-Follow up shall be inspected and adjusted and verified with all local and remote indicators.
5.20 Preparation of Drawings/Documents:
Service Reports: Provide a service report from the technical representatives including all critical measurements and maintenance performed.
5.21 Manufacturer’s Representative:
5.21.1 Provide the services of a manufacturer's representative during inspections. Wartsila Rep. shall be present for final testing to include Dock Trial IAW WI 022.
