4.0 Scope of AoI

4.1 AoI Background

The operational need within the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) is to enhance data-driven decision-making across diverse mission areas by implementing an integrated framework for data orchestration and advanced analytics. AFIMSC supports 78 installations and various directorates with complex, mission-critical operations, ranging from base communications to infrastructure management. However, current systems, such as Envision, VAULT, Advana, and Unified Data Library (UDL), are not fully optimized for real-time decision-making or predictive analytics. Data is often siloed across these systems, requiring manual integration and processing, leading to inefficiencies, delays, and missed opportunities for operational optimization.

The key capability gaps include the inability to seamlessly integrate and orchestrate data across these systems, limiting the potential for timely, actionable insights. Additionally, existing tools lack advanced analytics capabilities such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization models that could significantly improve decision-making and efficiency. Automation is also limited, resulting in time-consuming manual workflows. These gaps hinder AFIMSC’s ability to make rapid, data-driven decisions in real-time, particularly for mission-essential projects, infrastructure management, and resource allocation.

Addressing these gaps through a comprehensive, scalable data framework will provide AFIMSC with the tools needed to optimize operations, enhance efficiency, and better support mission objectives.
