SEED
A.
Seed Mixture: Commercial blend of permanent grasses consisting of 40‑percent Kentucky Bluegrass (Poa pratensis), 40‑percent Creeping Red Fescus (Festuca rubra), and 20‑percent Annual Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum). Adjust the blend of grass varieties to approximate color and texture of existing lawn.
Grass Seed: Provide fresh, clean, new‑crop seed, similar and equivalent in quality, durability, and longevity (as determined by the [Architect/Engineer] [Contracting Officer] [Owner]) to Fescue Plus Mix by Oliger. Comply with tolerance for purity and germination established by Official Seed Analysts and with minimum percentages of purity and germination, and maximum percentage of weed seed, as follows:

Composition on the basis of air‑dry weight: Nine to 15 percent moisture.
Acidity/Alkalinity (pH) Range: From 3.5 to 5.0.
Use with hydro‑seeding application of grass seed and fertilizer.
When added to water, it shall form an homogenous slurry.
Total recovered material content for wood‑based or paper‑based hydraulic mulch shall be 100 percent.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.01
TOPSOIL
A.
Apply [4] [3] inches of topsoil throughout the Site.
3.02
FERTILIZING
A.
Apply fertilizer at a rate of 20 pounds for each 1,000 square feet.
B.
Apply after fine grading and mix thoroughly into upper 2 inches of topsoil.
C.
Do not apply grass seed and fertilizer at same time.
D.
Lightly water to aid breakdown of fertilizer and to provide moist soil for seed.
E.
Fertilizer may be incorporated into soil as part of the hydro‑seeding operation.
3.03
SEEDING
A.
Hydro‑Seeding: Add seed and fertilizer to water and thoroughly mixed at the rates specified. Add wood cellulose fiber mulch at the rates recommended by the manufacturer after the seed, fertilizer and water have been thoroughly mixed to produce a homogenous slurry. Uniformly apply slurry under pressure over the entire area. Ensure adequate soil moisture by spraying water on the entire hydro‑seeded area and moisten the soil to a minimum of 2 inches. Do not roll the hydro‑seeded area.
B.
Do not hydro‑seed immediately following rain, when ground is too dry, or during windy periods.
3.04
WATERING
A.
Water again seven to ten days after the first application, if 1 inch of rain has not fallen. Apply second application at same rate as first application.
3.05
MAINTENANCE PERIOD
A.
Maintenance Period: [Until final acceptance] [60 days after substantial completion].
3.06
MAINTENANCE
A.
Maintain surfaces and supply additional topsoil where necessary, including areas affected by erosion.
B.
Water to ensure uniform seed germination and to keep surface of soil damp.
C.
Apply water slowly so that surface of soil will not puddle and crust.
D.
Cut grass first time when it reaches height of 2 1/2 inches and maintain to minimum height of 2 inches. Do not cut more than one third of blade at any one mowing. Remove clippings.
E.
After first mowing water grass sufficient to moisten soil from three to 5 inches deep.
F.
Apply weed killer when weeds start developing, during calm weather when air temperature is above 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
G.
Replant damaged grass areas showing root growth failure, deterioration, bare or thin spots, and eroded areas.
3.07
ACCEPTANCE
Seeded areas will be accepted at end of maintenance period when seeded areas are properly established and otherwise acceptable.
