APPENDIX F2C
GUN AND AMMUNITION TEST FACILITY, TA C-74L
1.0 PURPOSE
2.0
. The purpose of TA C-74L is to test gun systems performance, ammunition performance, and ammunition life cycle, and to determine ballistic characteristics. The site is also used for remote control of sled missions conducted at TA C-74.
2.1. TA C-74L is used to test the terminal effects of gun systems and ammunition. The on-site data collection and reduction system is utilized to record critical performance parameters of small caliber (usually 40 mm or less) gun systems and ammunition. The firing bays are equipped for static firing of a wide variety of weapons ranging from small handguns to large automatic systems.
GENERAL.
2.2. TA C-74L is located approximately 24 miles northeast of Eglin main base, reached via SRs 20 and 285 and RR 213.
2.3. Principal features include a fixed mount and automatic weapon firing facility (building 9372). The facility includes an office, instrumentation room, maintenance area, ammunition handling and conditioning room, and two instrumented firing bays. The facility also has a target butt approximately 300 feet downrange. Although located adjacent to TA C-74, the facility has ample area to allow the testing of both high-explosive and high-explosive incendiary ammunition.

1. High-pressure hydraulic ram.
2. Digital voltmeters.
3. Charge amplifiers.
4. Associated cabling.
5. Calibration standards.
6. Operational transducers.
3.1.3. One X-Y scoring system, including:
1. Target area transducer frames.
2. Acoustic coupler system with coupler/amplifiers and a power supply packaged in a weather-resistant housing.
Attachment 3 Page F2C-2
3.1.4. Voltage mode amplifiers.
3.1.5. Dual mode amplifiers.
3.1.6. One remote-controlled roll paper framing target.
3.1.7. Ballistic velocity screens and associated Strobotac tester.
3.1.8. Assorted instrumentation transducers, including flow, pressure, temperature, and position indicators, and blast gauges and magnetic sensors.
3.1.9. Ten-channel digital temperature indicator.
3.2. The Contractor shall operate and maintain TA C-74L temperature conditioning chambers for ammunition up to 40mm.
3.3. The Contractor shall operate and maintain TA C-74L specialized test support equipment, including:
1. Various gun mount systems from 50 caliber to 40mm.
2. Laser bore sight system.
3. One high-pressure hydraulic system with associated controls and instrumentation.
3.4. The Contractor shall operate and maintain TA C-74L general test support equipment, including:
