• Replicates in-flight scenarios to support Electronic Warfare Testing, Munitions/Systems Integration, and EMI/EMC Certification

ACCESS TO AN APPROVED FACILITY TO MEET HIGH VOLUME TEST REQUIREMENTS

MCKINLEY CLIMATIC LABORATORY

(MCL)

The mission of the McKinley Climatic Laboratory is to produce global environmental testing conditions for government and commercial organizations to test and prove that systems under test are capable of satisfactory performance during exposure to naturally occurring climatic extremes.

Temperature, rain, snow, icing, sand, dust, salt fog, humidity & solar radiation are tested in a combination of 5 specialized chambers

MCL MAIN TEST CHAMBER

• World’s largest environmental test chamber, specially designed to test aircraft during exposure to climatic extremes

• -65F to +165F temperature range

• Air makeup from -65F to +125F at up to 1000 lbm/sec for one hour

• Large size and flexibility makes the chamber an ideal facility for a variety of other specialized tests

OTHER MCL TEST CHAMBERS

• Equipment Test Chamber o -65F to +170F temperature range.

o Air Make-Up capability

-65F to +125F 500 lbm/sec for 1 hr

• Sun, Wind, Rain, and Dust Chamber o Suitable for rain, wind, solar, sand and dust

• Salt Fog Chamber o High corrosive environment

• Altitude Chamber o Sea level to 77,000 ft pressure altitude.

o Also supports explosive decompression tests

• Remoted TEL for firing larger missiles o Improved with ability to gas externally and use IR video for night shots

• EMMLS supports launches at Eglin and other remote locations

Multiple Launch Configurations

OVERVIEW OF STV SYSTEM

• STV supports open-air testing of flares and other acft self protection systems

• Six Seeker Operation o Three operators run two seekers each o Lock seekers on aircraft prior to dispense

• Recorded digitized signal data o Signals are extracted from the seekers o Recorded video with data and tracking marks overlay

• Seeker operators score between runs

• Tests frequently conducted at Eglin or at other TDY locations

UV MALLINA Set-up

• Mallina is a ground-based threat signature simulator

• Used as both a missile plume simulator and as a stimulator to elicit aircraft jammer response

• System can detect energy from countermeasure systems to confirm jamming

• Two-color IR missile simulator configuration under development

LGTF COMPONENT TESTING

The Landing Gear Test Facility (LGTF) has the world renowned capability to collectively or individually test all components of the landing gear system

Aircraft/Aerospace Tire Testing

• Provide tire property data/performance from a variety of dynamic, static, friction, and wear tests using various surface replications (runways, non-skids, etc.)

Aircraft/Aerospace Wheel & Brake Testing

• 2 variable inertia dynamometers (84˝ and 192˝

• Variable speed, yaw, camber, brake torque, loading (25,000– 301,500 lbs), and kinetic energy (up to 205 Million ft-lbs)

LGTF SYSTEM LEVEL TESTING

The Landing Gear Test Facility (LGTF) has the additional world renowned capability to test full landing gear systems

Full Scale Drop Testing

• 4 Drop Towers (Small UAV to Large A/C Main

Landing Gear)

• Simulated wing lift, load reaction platform, high speed video, multiple drop loads (750-150000 lbs), and a variety of drop/landing velocities (~5fps-30fps)

Full Scale Structural Fatigue Testing

• A fully customizable landing gear fatigue test rig

(Small UAV to Large A/C Main Landing Gear)

• Complete full gear qualification testing spectrums

(drag loading (air loads), retract-extend testing, ground loading, etc.)

• Complete shimmy testing and other dynamic and in-between full gear testing

• Contains a full-annulus engine nacelle fixture which provides a high degree of realism

• AEN Fire Test Simulator allows the generation of in-flight nacelle conditions, including temperature and aircraft system operations
