About this file

This document is a Data Item Description (DID) that establishes format and content requirements for Personnel Recruitment Advertisements. The DID, numbered DI-MISC-81311A and approved November 8, 2006, provides the government with print or broadcast media recruitment advertisements for mass media distribution to recruit personnel across specified career fields.

The recruitment advertisements must target six primary career fields: Engineering, Computer Science, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Operations Research, Telecommunications, and Cryptology, as well as various management support functions. Advertisements may be formatted as print media, broadcast media (radio/video), or both, as specified in the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) on DD Form 1423. The contractor shall employ creative and innovative approaches and may select forms appropriate to support major programs such as cooperative education, college/university recruitment, affirmative action initiatives, and prior military personnel recruitment. All media programs must be coordinated to reflect a unified approach regardless of format selected.

The required deliverables consist of preliminary and final advertisements. Preliminary submissions include a working outline containing the advertisement title, program objectives, content summary, specified timing or length requirements, visual aids lists, and target audience distribution methods. A detailed manuscript must follow that contains all information necessary to support media advertisements including properties, talent, sound effects, and cueing. Final deliverables must be identical to the government-approved preliminary drafts with all recommended government changes incorporated. For print advertisements, this is the finalized layout; for broadcast advertisements, this is the recording script.
