About this file
This is a pre-proposal project overview and site visit document for federal contract opportunity YELL 326141, which involves constructing modular housing for federal partners and replacing lost LaPeyre housing for park staff in Yellowstone National Park. The document provides logistical details for two mandatory site visits: August 18, 2026, at the Mammoth area and August 19, 2026, at the Canyon and Northeast Entrance areas.
The August 18 site visit begins at 2 p.m. at the Albright Visitor Center in Mammoth, with directions provided from both Gardiner (15 minutes) and West Yellowstone (2 hours) entrances. Participants will sign in, receive a project overview in the administration building, and tour the Mammoth construction site via caravan on paved roads, concluding by 4:30 p.m. The August 19 site visit starts at 9 a.m. at the Canyon Visitor Education Center and includes tours of the Canyon Government Area project site (9:15 a.m.), followed by a 2-hour drive to the Northeast Entrance project site (departing 10:30 a.m., arriving 12:30 p.m.), with adjournment by 1:30 p.m. All questions must be submitted in writing to ensure all offerors receive consistent information, and no binding answers will be provided at the pre-proposal meetings. Interested offerors should sign up in advance and call 303-619-3620 or 907-738-1782 if running late, as cell phone coverage is limited in the park.

YELL 326141 – Construct Modular Housing for Federal Partners and Replace Lost LaPeyre Housing for Park Staff
Pre-Proposal Project Overview and Site Visit
August 18, 2026, at 2 p.m. – meet in front of the Albright Visitor Center in Mammoth and August 19, 2026, at 9 a.m. – meet in front of the Canyon Visitor Education Center
August 18 directions
From Gardiner: Follow the Old Gardiner Road (the only road beyond the park entrance gate) to the intersection immediately north of the Mammoth administration area. Follow yellow line on map below.
Allow 15 minutes once through the park gate.
From West Yellowstone: Drive through the park entrance gate. Turn left at Madison Junction. Go straight at Norris Junction. Follow blue line to intersection immediately north of the Mammoth administration area once you’ve reached Mammoth. Allow 2 hours once through the park gate.
Parking will be hard to find, so arrive early. Meet in front of the Albright Visitor Center at 3 p.m. DSC staff will greet participants and lead the group into the administration building for a project overview. Then, DSC will lead a caravan to the Mammoth construction area so prospective bidders can view the project site.
August 19 directions
Follow road maps to Canyon Village. Google Maps says it is a 1-hour, 15-minute drive from Gardiner or a 1-hour, 10-minute drive from West Yellowstone. Once you arrive at the Canyon intersection, follow the yellow line on the map below to the Canyon Visitor Education Center. DSC staff will meet participants there at 9 a.m. and lead a tour to the Canyon and Northeast Entrance project sites.
Actual driving times are hard to predict, so DSC staff will wait a reasonable amount of time for interested Offerors who have signed up for the site visit in advance. Cell phone coverage is spotty, but participants are urged to call 303-619-3620 or 907-738-1782 if it appears they will arrive late.
