About this file

This is a Policy Memorandum from the U.S. Army Installation Management Command addressing on-post contractor operations and storage areas at Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield.

The memorandum establishes mandatory requirements for all contractors conducting operations at Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield regarding the design, maintenance, and management of contractor storage areas. Contractors must submit detailed sketches depicting facility locations and planned improvements to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and obtain written approval from the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) prior to implementation. Storage operations must maintain a 6-foot high chain-link fence around all storage yards with appropriate weatherproof signage identifying the contractor and governing contract, including emergency contact information. All storage containers must be labeled with owner and contract information and arranged neatly within fenced areas. Materials not in enclosed containers must be stacked in neat, orderly fashion on pallets when practical. Contractors must maintain grass and weeds at no more than six inches in height, keep vegetation neat and presentable, use cone and barrier materials only when necessary for work protection, and remove such materials immediately upon completion. Trash and debris must not accumulate, with coordination required regarding dumpster placement. Upon contract conclusion, contractors must remove all materials, office trailers, storage containers, fences, and utilities, then restore the site to original grade and condition with permanent grass seeding. Non-compliance with these requirements may result in termination of site use and relocation of contractor operations off-post. The point of contact for implementation is the Directorate of Public Works, Contract Management Branch at (912) 767-3269 or (912) 228-7114. The document includes maps identifying contractor site locations at both Fort Stewart (behind Forestry off GA Highway 144) and Hunter Army Airfield (near Leonard Neal Street).
