About this file

This document is a Justification and Approval (J&A) for Other Than Full and Open Competition for certain brand name products to be used in the Construct Replacement Outpatient Clinic at US Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod project for the Providence VA Medical Center.

The brand name items identified include cabinetry, door hardware, the Metasys direct digital control system, the physical access control system, and signage. The VA has standardized the use of these brand name products throughout its facilities, and discontinuing them would result in significant duplication of costs and compatibility issues. The overall procurement will be competed, but the VA is justifying the use of these sole source brands. The estimated value of the brand name items is approximately $xxxx, within a total project cost between $10-20 million. The VA conducted market research and determined there are no competing products that are fully compatible with the existing systems at the Providence VAMC. The solicitation for this project is numbered 36C77624R0087.
