About this file
The document consists of a Wake Island Cargo Processing Form and an excerpt from AFI 24-605 regarding cargo preparation and shipping responsibilities. The Cargo Processing Data Sheet is a template form designed to capture detailed information about cargo shipments, including shipper and receiver details, hazardous material status, and cargo specifications. The form requires entries for company information, contact details, cargo description, dimensions, weight, and inspection data.
The AFI 24-605 excerpt outlines shipper responsibilities for cargo and mail transportation, emphasizing that air terminals are trans-shippers and do not prepare cargo documentation. Shippers are responsible for ensuring all cargo is properly packed, marked, labeled, and documented according to DTR 4500.9-R, Part II. The guidelines specifically note that hazardous material shipments without proper certification will be held until corrected, and air terminals should contact the appropriate airlift clearance authority if shipments are suspected of not being air transport eligible.

EXCERPT FROM AFI 24-605 CONCERNING CARGO PREPARATION
Section 3B—Cargo and Mail Documentation, Packaging, Marking, and
Labeling
3.4. Shippers Responsibilities. DTR 4500.9-R, Part II, outlines the movement and establish uniform handling of cargo and mail throughout
DTS. Air terminals are designated trans-shippers and do not prepare cargo or documentation for forward movement, this is a shipper responsibility. Shippers are responsible to ensure all cargo and mail tendered to AMC is packed, marked, labeled, and documented in accordance with the DTR 4500.9-R, Part II. All cargo and mail shipments presented for movement must be properly cleared, packed, marked, labeled, and documented prior to acceptance. Hazardous materials shipments without proper certification will be frustrated until corrected.
Air terminals receiving shipments suspected of not being certified for air transport or airlift eligible are to contact the appropriate airlift clearance authority/customer service branch (ACA/CSB). Note: Specialized shoring for cargo shipments is the shipper’s responsibility.
