About this file

This document is an attachment to a Request for Proposals issued by the City of Alexandria, Virginia on behalf of DASH (Dougherty Area Transit System) for a Computer-Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) System Replacement. The attachment details the current fixed-route on-board vehicle systems and equipment currently deployed across DASH's fleet. The inventory includes 117 Motorola digital mobile two-way radios for driver-to-dispatch communication, 116 Clever Devices Mobile Data Terminals paired with Transit Control Heads, and a combination of Clever Devices logic units (90 IVN-4 units and 26 IVN-5 units) for vehicle control. The fleet is equipped with multiple video surveillance systems including 110 Luminator Apollo RoadRunner units and 6 TSI systems, automatic passenger counters from Hella (49 APC-R and 67 APS-R units), and 116 Clever Devices AVA systems with amplifiers for interior communications.

Additional on-board equipment includes 100 Sunrise LED interior infotainment signs, destination signage from multiple manufacturers (2 TwinVision Legacy units, 68 TwinVision Smart Series 2 units, 19 TwinVision Smart Series 3 units, and 2 Hanover TFT signs), transit signal prioritization systems (81 GTT/Miovision units), and 114 routers from Sierra Wireless and Airlink for network connectivity. This comprehensive inventory documentation establishes the baseline technology environment that any proposed CAD/AVL replacement system must integrate with or replace to support DASH's operational requirements for real-time bus tracking, wayside displays, schedule adherence monitoring, and customer communication capabilities.
