INDUSTRY DAY – QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. (for Diana Ly, Space Biology)How is the FILMSS contractor involved in the Grants Management process?
Ans: There are 50-70 grants actively being worked with NSSC. The FILMSS contractor works on the PR’s, getting the quarterly updates needed from the Principal Investigators (PI’s) and keeping a close eye on the progress.
2. (for Diana Ly, Space Biology)For the Project Science conferences (6 conferences per year) How many attendees? How many international attendees?
Ans: 6 conferences per year – Each conference is supported by FILMSS with a space biology booth of 2 employees attending. We currently do not support international attendees however that could be a possibility.
3. (for Diana Ly, Space Biology)How closely are the High School Education efforts managed by
FILMSS?
Ans: FILMSS executes the full high school project from beginning to end.
4. (for Paresh Bhasvar, SCF branch manager) In the topic before Rodents, you mentioned a custom procurement system that was developed. Can you describe this and how the FILMSS contractor is involved?
Ans: The procurement system, MATS, meets all our APR and NPR requirements for flight hardware procurement using Filemaker software. FILMSS maintains this customized software and provides recommendations for improvement to include next going to mobile.
5. (for Janet Beegle, Code AT Branch Manager) How can the Aeronautics task be Core but also be flexible and adapt to changes? If large changes are needed, are these changes not addressed by IDIQ tasks?
Ans: The core includes minimum set of requirements. Any large changes to the core elements will be addressed by IDIQ task orders.
6. (for Michele Johnson, Acting Communications Director) Do contractors participate in live broadcasts, answering questions and/or communicating information, i.e. speaking as an unfiltered participant?
Ans: Yes, contractors participate in live broadcast for example “NASA in Silicon Valley”. At times both hosts of this show have been contractors. Several rehearsals are done beforehand with a review of material to be covered and the on point massage to be delivered.
7. (for Michele Johnson, acting communications Director) How do you know which channels or functions are most effective? Ie. Reaches the greatest audience? Reaches the intended audience?
Ans: Google analytics are used to see how web products are performing. Also tools for counting number of listeners/watchers. For I/O number of questions or comments uploaded.
