About this file

This is a specification document issued by the State of Illinois Department of Transportation, Bureau of Business Services, detailing requirements for a Brine Liquid Tank Trailer (Specification No. 549-60-07 D6) for use in departmental operations. The specification outlines mandatory equipment and design standards that all bidders must meet, including a tandem axle, dual wheel configuration with stainless steel construction. The document establishes a base specification applicable across districts with district-specific modifications for District 6, which requires an increased capacity of 7,000 gallons (compared to the 5,000-gallon base specification) and the addition of a hydraulic-powered pump system with 2-inch stainless plumbing and a 2-inch Hypro Pump, Silver Series with hydraulic motor. All trailers must include specified safety features, components, and accessories such as air-suspended brakes, LED lighting, sight gauges, aluminum catwalks, and DOT-approved reflective tape, with maximum dimensions of 102 inches in width and 45 feet in length. Bidders are required to provide descriptive literature and acknowledge specification requirements with their bid response.

The specification requires manufacturers to provide units complete with all standard equipment and necessary accessories mounted at delivery, with deviations from stated requirements not acceptable regardless of pricing considerations. Warranty coverage includes all defective parts and workmanship for a minimum of one year from date of acceptance, with all warranty service performed at no cost to the State. Additionally, successful bidders must provide complete operator and service manuals, parts lists, and factory or dealer personnel to conduct educational instruction covering operation, routine service, and maintenance for all assigned personnel at the requesting headquarters location. The State reserves the right to request a demonstration of the unit prior to delivery, with any required minor modifications at the bidder's expense if contained within the specifications.
