5. 10/13/2023 BAJ - AES I’ve looked through both specification documents provided and division 9 section 09 29 00 – Gypsum Board is not included. Can I get a copy of this?

Evidently that section was inadvertently deleted from the final printing of the specifications. The Section is attached to this Amendment.

6. 10/13/2023 BAJ - AES Do we know if STO is an approved Product for the EIFS? If STO can meet the specifications and can provide a finish to match the original. A complete submittal showing how the STO product would meet the specs shall be submitted for approval if proposed.

AE602 list WC-1 in the areas of S001, S002, and S005. AE603 does not list a WC-1. Is this just a misprint and the correct item code should be WP-1?

WC-1 is a typo, WP-1 is correct. WP-1 it’s for the wall protection system install along the corridor.

8. 10/18/2023 10/23/2023

LMF (AES)

Under specification 09 91 00 on page 20 under paragraph

3.10 (A)(B) and (C) it seems to indicate that we would be responsible for removing the wallpaper/murals/high impact coatings in the West wing and repairing the damage. Is this correct?

Yes, that is correct.

9. 10/19/2023 10/23/2023

LMF - AES

I went out to the site to look at the EIFS finish to see what is on existing and it is a medium sand finish. The plans call out for a light sand texture. Plans also say to match existing.

How would you like me to bid this?

We received 2 separate emails late yesterday pointing out that the engineer design provided for SE needs to be addressed for the Structural steel/Truss companies to provide a quote for this project. One of the requests sent an attachment showing the location of where the structural needs to be addressed. The concern is regarding the Girder weight bearing loads, and the other concern is about the light weight steel trusses. I can only assume that both are pointing out the same area?

The roof trusses are to be a deferred submittal item and are to be designed by a truss manufacturer as outlined per item 11.

(Items A-K) as indicated on drawing sheet SI001 and with any notes on the structural drawings for the roof framing plan.

As far as the girder weight and truss bearing loads, I believe the design loads and preliminary truss reactions were included in the original building structural design calculations that were prepared. However, a selected delegated design truss engineer for the project will usually come up with their own truss reactions that include the weight of the truss material since the trusses will need to be designed by that manufacturer that is selected and they are to include submittals for review that included their shop drawings for the project as well as their design calculations for each truss for the project.

75. 11/7/2023 Reference Price Schedule Line Item 0002 (Deduct 1): Are we to enter only the value of the deducted work, or are we to enter the value of the deducted project excluding the deducted work?

The Price Schedule states, “Bid Deduct will remove the demolition and renovation of the West Wing…” and also indicates that each deduct removes a portion of the work. This seems to imply that Line Item 0002 should include all work in Line Item 0001 except for the demolition and renovation of the West Wing.

The Price Schedule also refers us to VAAR 852.236- 92 Notice to Bidders-Additive or Deductive Bid Line Items. This Clause indicates that the low bid will be the offer with the lowest aggregate amount for the first or base line item, plus or minus those additive or deductive line items that provide the most features within the funds determined available.

This implies that Line Item 0002 should only include the value of the deducted work (demolition and renovation of the West Wing).

The VA acknowledges that there is a conflict between 852.236-92 (a)(2)(ii) and the Price Schedule/Statement of Bid Items. For this project, disregard the language in 852.236-92 (a)(2)(ii) ONLY and follow the instructions in the Price Schedule for how to apply Line Item 0002.

As-built drawings are part of the A/E CPS contract. GC is responsible for marking up prints and specifications during the construction period for the A/E to incorporate. These can be achieved creating redlines on PDF using Adobe or Bluebeam, or creating redlines on CAD or Revit, any method is acceptable, but they must be legible. Handwritten redlines must be submitted promptly as they could potentially not be legible and the A/E will ask for clarification or resubmittal of such redlines.
