VAFPDM requires that automatic sprinkler protection be provided to ensure critical operational functions are not interrupted for longer than 24 hours and property loss does not exceed $500,000. The generator units are located in a common area and would both be damaged in the event of a fire. Keep in mind that the generators are routinely operated for testing, readiness verification and maintenance so they operate significant amount of time other than when required for emergency power. Provide documentation that the VAFPDM criteria are being satisfied.
VA Fire Protection Design Manual, 7th Edition, December, 2015, Section 6.1.A
See updated site drawings adding water line extension, hydrant, and connection. New fire protection drawings added.
