About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document containing 197 technical and administrative questions and responses for solicitation 36C24625B0007 to renovate the 2nd floor of Building 15 at the Asheville VA Medical Center.
The Q&A provides extensive details about the renovation project requirements and clarifies that: work transmitting noise/vibrations must be performed during off-hours; ICRA barriers must extend from floor to deck; a separate SSHO (Site Safety and Health Officer) is required but the Superintendent can serve as CQC Manager; contractor must provide specified bathroom accessories and new LED lighting; temporary wall systems like STARC panels are acceptable; the service elevator may be used for materials; JCI/Johnson Controls is the incumbent for security/fire alarm systems; and the VA will handle terminal cleaning and permanent signage. Key materials specified include Taj Flooring Wavelength LVT in Chia color and Best/COREMAX 7-pin cylinder cores for door hardware. The work will be completed in phases with each phase area cleared by the VA before contractor access. The document confirms bid bonds must be 100% of bid price or $3M (whichever is less) and specifications take precedence over drawings and the Statement of Work.
