QUESTION #16:

Specification section 31 32 23 – PRESSURE GROUPING SOIL STABILIZATION, Paragraph 2.2 sets specifications for the Lime Slurry, and Paragraphs 3.1 and 3.2 refer to drilling 4” diameter 3 foot deep holes in the subgrade and injecting the Lime Slurry. A conflicting note on plan sheet CR301 (108 of 262) Details 7 and 8 refer to spreading Quicklime at 4 LBS/SF and mixing it into the soil 12” deep. Additionally, the Geotech Report, Section 4.6.3, bottom of page 23, states “Lime treated materials shall conform to the requirements in Section 24 of the Caltrans Standard Specifications, latest edition. Caltrans 24-2.03C allows the Lime to be placed dry or as a slurry prior to mixing. In summary, the plans and specs call out several varying ways of doing lime treatment. We assume the specifications are the governing document which requires pressure grouting, however we cannot get subs to cover this method in California. Most Lime treatment on the west coast is done with Hydrated Lime powder or Lime slurry.

Will the contractor have the options to use either slurry lime, dry hydrated lime, or quicklime treatment for this project?

RESPONSE #16: The Contractor shall have the option of surface applied slurry lime, dry hydrated lime or quicklime treatment to be mixed in to a depth of 12” per drawing detail notes. No drilling or injecting of lime is required for this contract.

QUESTION #17:

The Subcontractor and/or Supplier are unable to determine the type of product that is needed for the divider caps and divider walls at the columbarium.

RESPONSE #17: Divider walls and caps shall be natural cut limestone.

QUESTION #18:

Unable to locate the Asphalt Escalation Clause in specs. Please advise.

RESPONSE #18: No escalation clauses of any kind is included in the RFP or resultant contract.
