About this file

This is a technical specification document for Section 260519 – Low-Voltage Electrical Power Conductors and Cables, part of Project 25-388 CBI HVAC and Lighting Upgrade. The specification outlines comprehensive requirements for the procurement and installation of electrical conductors, cables, and related materials for a state or local government facility upgrade project. Products specified include single conductor building wire, nonmetallic-sheathed cable, underground feeder and branch-circuit cable, service entrance cable, armored cable, metal-clad cable, power and control tray cable, manufactured wiring systems, and associated accessories such as wiring connectors, electrical tape, heat shrink tubing, and firestop sleeves. The specification requires compliance with multiple industry standards including ASTM, NECA, NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), and UL standards, with copper conductors as the default material unless aluminum is specifically indicated. Minimum conductor size is 12 AWG, and specific color coding requirements are mandated for different voltage systems, including 480Y/277V three-phase systems, 208Y/120V three-phase systems, and 240/120V high-leg delta systems.

The specification establishes detailed product quality and installation requirements but does not include pricing information, bid due dates, award timelines, site visit schedules, or bidders' conference details. Approved manufacturers are identified for each cable and conductor type, including companies such as Cerro Wire LLC, Encore Wire Corporation, Southwire Company, and others. Installation must comply with manufacturer instructions and industry standards including NECA 1 for general workmanship, NECA 104 for aluminum conductors, and NECA 120 and 121 for specific cable types. The specification requires proper conductor support independent from raceways and other building systems, secure terminations using listed fittings, appropriate slack at outlets, and preservation of fire resistance ratings through firestopping. No contract duration, renewal options, funding sources, or pricing terms are addressed in this technical specification document.
