Dear Juan, Please see below for our responses to the submittal review comments:
Comment: Justify the discrepancy between the selection chiller model and the design model.
Response: C&N signifies Certified and Not Certified. The units are tested on an AHRI certified test stand, however they do not carry the AHRI Certification. // P & O – Amp rating went down slightly (500 MOP to 450 MOP. The letter was changed to account for the difference in Amp rating.
Comment: Refer to section 236416 paragraph 1.8; the following certificates have to be attached:
• ARI 550/590
• ASHRAE 15
• ANSI/ASHRAE Guideline 147
• Green Seal Compliance
Response:
• The units are tested and the data presented is based on an AHRI certified test stand.
However, our units are not certified by AHRI for 50 Hertz Operation.
• Please see page 7 of 120 for ASHRAE 15 and 147 certification letter.
• Please see page 7 of 120 for ASHRAE 15 and 147 certification letter.
• The chillers comply with the requirements of Green Seal, but are not certified as part of the program due to their 50 Hz rating.
Comment: Refer to Refrigeration section 2.5 parts C,D,E and G, the following components have to be explained:
• Pressure Relief Device
• Refrigeration Transfer
• Refrigerant Isolation for Chillers Using R-134a
• Purge System – No Purge necessary.

Response:
• See page 116-117 of 120 for information on pressure relief device.
Specification 236416 - Page 2 of 121
• The required service valves and connection points are included as specified.
• The required manual isolation valves (Compressor Suction & Discharge, & Liquid
Line are included as specified)
• Purge is not applicable for chillers where refrigerant pressures are above atmospheric pressure.
• The chiller is designed to maintain a pressure above atmospheric pressure to avoid air leaking into the chiller vessels.
Comment: Refer to Section 236416 parts 1.11; the following items have to be added to the mentioned warranty:
• Complete chiller including refrigerant charge (5 Year)
• Complete compressor and drive assembly including refrigerant (5 Year)
• Loss of refrigerant charge for any reason.
Response:
• Please see pages 118-120 of 120 for warranty documents
Comment: The attached Control Panel drawings have to be resubmitted in order to include the inputs and outputs specified on design drawings MC9.1.2 and MC9.1.3 in addition to MC9.1.4 which is necessary for the Sequence of Operation.
Response:
• MC9.1.2 – This drawing does not appear to have any I/O to/from the Centrifugal Water Chillers
• MC9.1.3 - There are two points lists on this drawing (one for MC9.1.2 – see comment above) and (one for MC9.1.0). A review of MC9.1.0 does not appear to have any I/O to/from the Centrifugal Water Chillers.
• MC9.1.4 – The sequence of operation on this drawing does not appear to call for any I/O to/from the Centrifugal Water Chillers.
Comment: Refer to section 236416 part 2.8, the insulation must be applied as follows:
• Over all cold surfaces of chiller capable of forming condensation like pipes, evaporator etc. NOT only the evaporator.
• Thickness must be 1.5 inches NOT ¾ inches.
Response: See revision indicating 1.5 “ of insulation (38.1 mm) on pages 17 & 32 of 120.
Comment: Refer to section 23641[6] part 2.14 B; the chiller manufacturer shall furnish vibration isolation for each chiller as per section 230548 “Vibration-Seismic Controls for HVAC” for requirements.
The submittal notes that the Seismic & Vibration Isolation will be done by others. Clarify Why and Who?
Response: BL Harbert to Address this comment.
Comment: Provide removable and reusable sound-barrier over the compressor housing, hermetic motor, compressor suction and discharge piping, and condenser shell. The sound barrier must comply section 23641[6] part 2.14.B Response: Please provide the sound performance requirements for the mechanical equipment room so this item can be designed to accomplish the sound goals for the project.

This speeds up the communication, improves reliability, and allows for each compressor to run with it’s own unique demand signal. This allows each compressor to run in its own sweet spot to maximize energy efficiency. Studies have shown that this feature alone is able to save 3 to 5 kw, per compressor over the next leading chiller control.
• Industry leading trend graphing. Data captured in 5 second intervals. Data is saved daily to external thumb drive and can be broken down in intervals of: seconds, minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, 12 hours, or full day. Trend graphing includes zoom feature. Trend graphing also includes all hardwired inputs and outputs so here is never again any guess work on what the chiller is doing.

• Web Control feature Standard on all FlexSys Control Systems. This allows the user to mirror the chiller control exactly as if they were standing in front of it. App support for iphone®, ipad®, android®, and desktop applications.
• Chiller Dashboard has 20 user configurable fields that allows the operator to customize the information they want to see
• Chiller controls a 3-way condenser water valve as a standard to help with inverted start conditions
• Chiller provides a tower output signal that provides a recommended setpoint for entering condenser water
• Standard I/O points include: external chilled water reset, external load limit, chiller kw, chiller amps, condenser 3-way valve control, tower setpoint, chilled & condenser water flow safeties, chilled water in & out and condenser water in & out temperatures, liquid line temp, chiller fault, chiller run, and a contact for any compressor in a fault condition.
• Built in modbus server for tcp/ip or rtu communication. Communication for BacNET or Lon is achieved thru an optional gateway.
• Optional I/O expansion hub available in two sizes: small or large. Customer can select one or the other which allows for up to 17 pre configured control features such as: chilled water valve control, pump control, tower control, and more.

Component Specification- FLEXSYS Control System:
MagLev Centrifugal Chillers are equipped with an industrial grade CPU based controls system called FlexSys. Flexsys features an Intel™ based processor. All chiller & compressor I/O is controlled via EtherCAT. With EtherCAT, FLEXSYS controls update at a rate of 50 microseconds.
The FlexSys Controller features a 15 TFT inch touch screen interface that can be disconnected & the chiller will still run. This is because the processor is not built into the screen like other control systems. The FlexSys Controller uses proprietary control logic to control the chiller thru the use of its natural progression control algorithms. These algorithms define the proper operating range for the compressors to run in for maximum reliability while optimizing energy efficiency
The end user is able to operate chiller via the HMI located on chiller’s touch screen or via remote web connection. All system parameters including: compressor status, alarms, & faults, trend graphing, fault logging, BAS communication window, manuals, wiring diagrams, log book, & control set points are viewable.
