About this file
This document is a Pre-Bid Site Visit information packet for a project at Big Bend National Park involving replacing the Chisos Mountains Lodge and rehabilitating the Chisos Basin Water System. The pre-bid site visit is scheduled for July 16-17, 2025, with strict RSVP requirements by Monday, July 14 at 5pm CT. Potential bidders must email specific park contacts with details including firm name, attendee names, and vehicle information for entry into the park.
The two-day site visit includes detailed itineraries for both days, with Day 1 focusing on the Chisos Basin area and involving tours of water tanks, the lodge, visitor center, and campground facilities. Day 2 will be a restricted tour of Oak Springs Water Line Work, with special vehicle requirements mandating 4WD and high clearance vehicles. Contractors will be grouped and scheduled in specific time slots between 0830 and 1730 hours, with access limited due to terrain constraints. Safety guidelines emphasize preparing for hot conditions, uneven terrain, potential wildlife encounters, and limited cell service throughout the park.
