About this file
This document is a technical specification section for stone veneer assemblies for the Replace the Chisos Mountains Lodge and Rehabilitate the Chisos Basin Water System project. The specification details the requirements for installing thin stone veneer with specific materials and methods, using Buechel Stone Corp.'s Mosaic Thin Veneer in Antique Copper Fieldstone color. The stone will be a quartz-based dimension stone with irregular ends, random shapes, and a color range including burnt tones, browns, buffs, black, red, and mustard.
Key technical requirements include using Laticrete MVIS HI Bond Veneer Mortar, a cement board backing, hat channels for ventilation, and specific installation techniques such as working from bottom up, maintaining a 4-inch clearance from grade, and creating 1/2-inch mortar joints. The specification provides detailed instructions for stone selection, mortar preparation, installation process, joint tooling, cleaning, and quality control, with strict tolerances for plumbness, linear building line, and joint thickness. The project is identified by the contract number BIBE 259631-317515 and is scheduled for Revision 1 on 08/18/2025.
