About this file

This document is a technical specification section (07 52 16) for SBS-Modified Bituminous Membrane Roofing for the replacement of the Chisos Mountains Lodge and rehabilitation of the Chisos Basin Water System at Big Bend National Park. The roofing specification details two primary roof assemblies: a Terrace Deck Roof Assembly using Siplast Paradiene 20/Teranap 1M roof system with two-ply SBS-modified bituminous membrane, and a PMMA Roof Assembly using Siplast Parapro/Pro Base SA roof system with a resin-based membrane applied over a cement board substrate.

Key technical requirements include specific installation procedures for vapor retarders, insulation, and membrane application, with detailed specifications for materials like DensDeck Prime cover board, Insulfoam Type XV expanded polystyrene insulation, and a TruGround electronic leak detection system. The specification mandates strict quality control measures, including electronic leak detection testing over the entire membrane, manufacturer's technical personnel inspection, and adherence to precise application techniques. The roofing system must meet performance requirements such as FM Global listing, Solar Reflectance Index of at least 78, and a 20-year manufacturer's warranty.
