Question and answer:
Q1. The solicitation references Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) Sewer Rehabilitation, but the work is not shown on the plans. Please confirm if CIPP is required on this project, and if so, please provide locations.
A1. CIPP is not required on this project.
Q2: The solicitation references Pipe Bursting Sewer Rehabilitation, but the work is not shown on the plans.
Please confirm if pipe bursting is required on this project, and if so, please provide locations.
A2. Pipe Bursting Sewer Rehabilitation is not required on this project.
Q3. The solicitation references Horizontal Directional Drilling, but the work is not shown on the plans. Please confirm if Horizontal Directional Drilling is required on this project, and if so, please provide locations.
A3. Horizontal Directional Drilling is not required on this project.
Q4. Spec Section 33 31 13 includes section 3.7 STRUCTURAL EPOXY SYSTEM, but the work is not shown on the plans. Does this only apply to the existing manholes to be rehabilitated, or does it apply to all manholes or other scopes? Please confirm application/location of the work.
A4. This only applies to existing manholes to be rehabilitated.
Q5. Spec Section 31 20 00 part 2.2 states that native material excavated from trenches should not be anticipated for use as trench backfill. Part 2.3 states that soils from excavations of fill and residuum can generally be used as engineered fill. These contradict and there is no Geotech report. Please provide direction on what material should be used as trench backfill for bidding purposes.
A5. Updated Spec Section to be released in forthcoming Amendment. Spec Section 31 2 00 part 2.3.C. should be revised to read "Site soils generated from on-site excavation activities of fill and residuum shall not be anticipated to be used as engineered fill. Additional evaluation and laboratory testing should be performed by the contractor during earthwork activities to better evaluate the suitability of the on-site soils for re-use as engineered fill at this site." Material imported or generated from on-site excavation that meets the requirements of Spec Section 31 2 00 part 2.3.B. can be used for trench backfill.
Q6. The proposed sewer between MH230 and MH231 appears to go over a utility bridge, please provide further information. Is there an existing casing pipe the proposed carrier pipe will go inside, if so, are skids and seals required? Is a new Casing or Utility Hangars required? Etc.?
A6. The proposed sewer between MH230 and MH231 goes under a wood pedestrian bridge and should be hung off the bridge with Utility Hangars like the existing line.
Q7. The Site Plans (Sheets 21-C20 through 21-C29) show trench restoration at 36 inches wide, it is not possible to install sewer at the proposed depths in a 36-inch-wide trench. Please confirm it is acceptable to have trench widths up to 7’ wide or wider without the need for full width roadway repair.
A7. Use of trench boxes should be expected to keep trench widths to a minimum. Trench widths 7' or wider in roadways will require full width roadway repair.
Q8. Is a Geotechnical Report available?
A8. A Geotechnical Report is not available.
Q9. I wanted to mention some discrepancies found in the documents for this project.
