SECTION 01 27 00 – DEFINITION OF CONTRACT LINE ITEMS

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

A. The intent of this section is to explain, in general, what is and what is not included in a contract line item, and the limits or cut-off points where one item ends, and another begins.

B. If no contract line item exists for a portion of the work, include the costs in a related item.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS (Not Used)

3.1 LIST OF CONTRACT LINE ITEMS

A. Contract Line Item No. 1: Mobilization & Demobilization.

1. This item consists of mobilization and demobilization.

2. Measurement for payment will be made on lump sum items (L.S.).

3. Payment will be made at the contract lump sum price (L.S.).

B. Contract Line Item No. 2: Contractor Staging & Access/ General Conditions.

1. This item consists of preparation of laydown and materials storage areas, trailers, and all access equipment including barges and cranes.

2. No separate measurement will be made on lump sum items (L.S.).

3. Payment will be made at the contract lump sum price (L.S.).

C. Contract Line Item No. 3: Erosion Control/Oil Seepage Control & Water Testing.

1. This item consists of activities required to protect water quality.

2. No separate measurement will be made on lump sum items (L.S.).

3. Payment will be made at the contract lump sum price (L.S.).

D. Contract Line Item No. 4: Tree Removal (12” and Smaller).

1. This item consists of all site clearing and tree removal along the towpath for trees 12” in diameter and smaller including stump removal, roots, obstructions, debris and backfilling as indicated in drawing notes and specifications.

2. Measurement for payment will be per tree removed.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per tree removed.

E. Contract Line Item No. 5: Tree Removal (13” or Larger).

1. This item consists of all site clearing and tree removal along the towpath for trees 13” in diameter and larger including stump removal, roots, obstructions, debris and backfilling as indicated in drawing notes and specifications.

2. Measurement for payment will be per tree removed.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per tree removed.

F. Contract Line Item No. 6: Site Clearing and Grubbing.

1. This item consists of all site clearing and grubbing as indicated in drawing notes and specifications.

2. Includes existing tree limbing and pruning as indicated on the drawings and directed by

CO.

3. No separate measurement will be made on lump sum items (L.S.).

4. Payment will be made at the contract lump sum price (L.S.)

G. Contract Line Item No. 7: Towpath Excavation and Backfill.

1. This item consists of excavation, removal and disposal or re-use of suitable fill as required to construct towpath and shoulders. Includes suitable fill placement, grading and compaction.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic yard of soil cut and hauled.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic yard.

H. Contract Line Item No. 8: Wall Excavation and Backfill.

1. This item consists of excavation, removal and disposal or re-use of suitable fill as required behind existing, extended or reconstructed walls. Includes suitable fill placement, grading and compaction. Stone backfill behind walls is listed under CLIN Item No. 13.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic yard of soil cut and hauled.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic yard.

I. Contract Line Item No. 9: Towpath.

1. This item consists of construction of the towpath surface and base courses including all geotextile placement.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic yard of for each course installed.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic yard.

J. Contract Line Item No. 10: Topsoil and Seeding.

1. This item consists of installation of topsoil and seeding for areas constructed to meet the design grades shown in the plans and specifications. Topsoil and seeding necessary to stabilize disturbed areas outside of the constructed areas should be addressed under CLIN

3. Any subsequent topsoil and seeding necessary to establish adequate stand of grass after the initial construction is included in the original unit payment for that area.

2. Includes topsoil placement, finish grading and compaction

3. Measurement for payment will be per square yard of area topsoiled and seeded.

4. Payment will be made at the contract price per square yard.

K. Contract Line Item No. 11: Culvert Replacement.

CHOH - 151201 01 27 00 - 3

1. This item consists of removal of existing 18” corrugated metal pipes, installation of 18” HDPE pipes including excavation, backfill, pipe bedding and compaction. The cost also includes modifications to existing stone headwalls and construction of new stone headwalls.

2. Measurement for payment will be per linear foot of pipe installed.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per linear foot.

L. Contract Line Item No. 12: #57 Stone Backfill Behind Walls.

1. This item consists of installation of #57 stone backfill behind existing, extended or reconstructed walls as indicated on the structural plans including all geotextile placement.

Includes stone placement, grading and compaction.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic yard of #57 stone installed in place.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic yard.

M. Contract Line Item No. 13: Repair Existing Dry-laid Stone Walls.

1. This item consists of providing stone infill and re-chinking existing dry-laid stone wall along the river.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic foot of wall treated.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic foot.

N. Contract Line Item No. 14: Reconstruct Existing Stone Walls (Salvaged Stone).

1. This item consists of reconstructing existing dry-laid & mortared walls along the river using stone salvaged from the walls or areas directly adjacent to the work area.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic foot of wall reconstructed

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic foot.

O. Contract Line Item No. 15: Reconstruct Existing Stone Walls (New Stone).

1. This item consists of reconstructing existing dry-laid & mortared walls along the river using new stone that meets the requirements of the specifications sourced from off-site.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic foot of wall reconstructed

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic foot.

P. Contract Line Item No. 16: Extend Existing Dry-laid Stone Walls.

1. This item consists of constructing a dry-laid vertical extension on top of existing dry-laid stone wall along the river.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic foot of wall extension.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic foot.

Q. Contract Line Item No. 17: Extend Existing Mortared Stone Walls.

1. This item consists of construction of a mortared vertical extension on top of existing mortared stone wall along the river.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic foot of wall extension.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic foot.

R. Contract Line Item No. 18: Repair Existing Mortared Stone Walls.

1. This item consists of repointing and/or setting stone with mortar to match existing mortared stone walls along the river.

2. Measurement for payment will be per cubic foot of wall repointed or stone set with mortar.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per cubic foot.

3.2 BID OPTIONS

A. Contract Line Item No. 19: Bid Option A – Station 0+00 to 4+00 – Temporary Controls for Option A

1. This item consists of furnishing, installing, and removing all temporary controls necessary to provide safe access to the work site and to secure the work site, including staging areas, installation and removal of temporary erosion and sedimentation controls, signage to provide daily closure of towpath within the work area and all other items necessary to provide a safe work area to reconstruct/stabilize Historic Stone Wall and Towpath from Station 0+00 to Station 4+00 per the drawings and specifications.

2. Measurement for payment will be lump sum or percentage complete of line item per schedule of values.

3. Payment will be made at the contract lump sum price.

B. Contract Line Item No. 20: Tree Removal (12” and Smaller) for Option A.

1. This item consists of all site clearing and tree removal along the towpath for trees 12” in diameter and smaller including stump removal, roots, obstructions, debris and backfilling as indicated in drawing notes and specifications.

2. Measurement for payment will be per tree removed.

3. Payment will be made at the contract price per tree removed.

C. Contract Line Item No. 21: Tree Removal (13” or Larger) for Option A.
