About this file
This document outlines the sea acceptance test procedures for Kongsberg Maritime's SBP 27 and SBP 29 sub-bottom profilers. The test procedures verify system functionality at sea and serve as a record of completion. Key items to be tested include the operator station, transceiver units, fiber optic cables, junction boxes, and connection cables. Tests include power-on self-tests, attitude and navigation data reception, bottom slope compensation, and verification of penetration at various beam angles. Upon completion, authorized personnel must sign the testimonial to accept the results.
This federal contract opportunity seeks a firm fixed price contract to complete a mid-life refit of NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown. The refit will include upgrades to ship systems such as propulsion, science equipment, HVAC, piping, and structural repairs. The solicitation will utilize FAR Part 12 and 15 with full and open competition. Inquiries are due by June 28, 2021 and proposals are due by August 6, 2021 to the Department of Commerce National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration contracting and contract specialist points of contact listed. The refit services required and response dates are the key relevant details provided.

6 Interconnection/arrangements The system shall be fully installed and tested.
If SBP 27, the EM 122/302 preamplifier must be switched on. Sensors providing the required inputs shall be available. This includes attitude (to the transceiver unit), navigation (to the operator unit), and the EM must be running and configured to send the SRV datagram to the SBP operator unit.
The system shall have been installed according to the Installation Manual. In the following table, fill in the installation parameters as entered on the Operator station. All coordinates are relative to the ships reference point. The X/Y/Z-axes are pointing forward/starboard/downward.

7 Test procedure Switch on power to the system and perform all tests as described in the Check List and fill in the results for each individual test.
1 For a 3/6/12 degree transmitter the number of Tx channels is 64/32/16, respectively.
2 For a 1/2/4-degree EM 122/124 receiver the MAXIMUM number of SBP Rx channels is 64/32/16, respectively. The actual number of SBP Rx channels available is limited by the number of SIHD8 boards installed in the TRU. For a 1/2/4-degree EM 302/304 receiver the MAXIMUM number of RX channels is
32/16/8, respectively. The actual number of SBP Rx channels available is limited by the number of
SIHD8 boards installed in the TRU. See the SBP installation manual for details.
3 Note that there is no calibration procedure for roll and pitch for the SBP. The values found after the EM
SAT may be entered for roll offset and pitch offset.

b. CPU Card Test Verify response “OK”
c. SIHD8 Card Test All boards must report voltage and temperature and respond “OK”
d. HV Power Verify response “OK”
e. Average noise level All values should be above
35 [dB re 1 uPA@1m]
f. MRU Check that attitude is updated.
3 Start operation of the EM providing
SRV and the SBP
Both systems operational
4 Verify attitude data being presented after each ping
5 Verify navigation data being presented while pinging
Look in the status area
6 Check that the SRV datagram is successfully received
Look in the lower part of the menu for runtime parameters.
7 Verify bottom slopes along/across being presented (see run-time parameters) and compensated for in transmit/ receive tilt
Automatic bottom slope correction must be enabled.
Look in status area
8 Verify penetration on a flat area Penetration and image is dependent on bottom type.
The water depths should be greater than 250 m.
9 Verify reduced penetration in this area when the transmit beam is manually tilted.
Set automatic slope correction to off and enter slope angles manually to tilt the beams. Use e.g. 15°
