About this file
This document is a product specification and submittal guide for GSA-approved Hamilton Class 5 Security Vault Doors manufactured by Hamilton Products Group, Inc.
The Hamilton Class 5-V Security Vault Door provides 20 man-hours protection against surreptitious entry, 30 man-minutes against covert entry, and 10 man-minutes against forced entry. The door is designed for interior-mounted installation only in vault walls measuring 6 to 12 inches thick; walls exceeding 12 inches require custom-manufactured flanges at additional cost. The specification requires locks to meet Federal Specification FF-L-2740 for Class 5-V Security Doors. The door employs the Kaba Mas X-10 lock, a GSA-approved electro-mechanical lock meeting FF-L-2740 Revision B, Style 1 requirements, featuring self-powered "Green" technology, up to 500 billion dual-mode combinations, non-volatile memory, comprehensive audit functions, and environmental performance tested to -10°F to 155°F operational range. Installation requires completion of Form 10A confirming correct door numbers, swings, wall thicknesses, and shipping addresses before manufacturing begins. Customers must receive and unload doors using forklifts or pallet jacks, store doors indoors near vault locations, and examine crates for freight damage at delivery, noting concerns on the freight bill before driver departure. The manufacturer provides one-year warranty from substantial completion covering factory defects under normal use but excludes Acts of God, terrorism, water damage, electrical damage, or damage caused by customers or other subcontractors. Customers must sign off on door acceptance following installation testing and receive vault door and day gate keys. Lock combinations must not be changed from factory settings by contractors; owners are responsible for changing combinations to personal settings. Customer training is provided by paperwork only without site revisits.

Submittal Data 2.1 – Preparation Page 1 of 2
ROUGH OPENING PREPARATION
It is strictly prohibited to place any “Compressible Materials” within five inches (5”) from the edge of the rough opening. This includes sheetrock, metal studs, wood, etc. (Note: If your project wall designs are showing sheetrock or other material in this manner, the Architect or Designer will need to make a change in design.) Compressible materials can easily wear out and cause the vault door to eventually settle out of plumb and cause a “lock-in” situation. The use of such materials would also null and void the supplied (1) One Year Warranty from the Manufacturer / GSA Supplier. The jack bolts and frame of the vault door must attach directly to the concrete or masonry vault wall.
INTERIOR MOUNTED DOORS ONLY
The GSA Approved vault doors are not to be installed on an “Outside Wall”. It is the Customer’s responsibility to ensure that the Architect or Designer has not designed the building or vault in this manner. In some cases, a foyer may be built in front of the vault door, but it will need to be climate controlled. All vault doors are designed to swing out only.
VAULT WALL COORDINATION & CONSTRUCTION
These Class 5 Vault Doors are only made for walls six inches to twelve inches (6” – 12”) thick. Walls thicker than twelve inches (12”) will require custom made flanges that are not included in the standard quotation, and as noted on the original quotation, will require an additional charge for manufacture. Please contact Vanguard for correct pricing and ordering. Vault walls must be fully completed with rough openings as submitted prior to installation. If all walls are not constructed per submitted data, customer will be responsible for a second trip to the job site.
DELIVERY OF MATERIALS & CUSTOMER CARE
(Unless otherwise stated on the quotation, the Customer is to receive and unload the vault doors when they are delivered, as per Note 1 of the original quotation.)
When receiving doors, the Customer must unload them using a forklift or using a pallet jack with a loading dock. Customer is to be careful not to place forks within the crate, as the vault door will be facing downwards. The forks must be placed within the pallet portion of the package. If misplaced, the face of the door and the lock could be damaged. It is the Customer’s responsibility to repair any damage should this occur.
At time of delivery, it is the Customer’s responsibility to examine each crate for possible freight damage. If there are any concerns, the Customer is to label on the freight bill “Possible Damage” in the presence of the delivery truck driver, before he drives off site. Vanguard International, Inc. is to be contacted if there are any damage concerns. Failure for the Customer to note freight damage may result in additional charges. It is the customer’s responsibility to file any freight claims with the freight carrier for lost or damaged shipments.

Delivered material is not to be left outside or exposed to the weather. It is the Customer’s responsibility to take the doors into the building and place them near the vaults prior to arrival of the installers as per note 1 of the Vanguard Quotation. Leaving the material exposed to the weather may result in additional repair charges, freight costs or warranty revocation. Please make sure to store the doors properly near vaults.
ORDER CONFIRMATION – FORM 10A
It is the Customer’s responsibility to fill out our attached Form 10A as a customer confirmation of the correct door numbers, door swings, wall thicknesses (concrete wall only), and correct project shipping address. This form is mandatory and must be completed by the Customer and returned before or with the approved or noted submittals for this project. Manufacture cannot begin until this form is completed. Failure of the Customer to give the correct wall thickness of the vault concrete or masonry wall will result in additional charges for a second set of flanges to be shipped to the site.
CUSTOMER COORDINATION REQUIRED
It is the Customer’s responsibility to coordinate and ensure that the installers place the correct Vault Doors into the correct door openings as per plans and specifications. Our installers do not always have access to plans and full coordination and communication should be given by the Customer to ensure that the doors are installed in the correct places as per door swing and lock type. Failure to do this may result in additional charges for a locksmith to come out to the site to change out locks and GSA labels.
LOCK COMBINATION SETTINGS
The contractor is not to change the combination settings of the lock from the factory settings. It is the owner’s responsibility to change the combination to his or her own personal settings. If the contractor changes the settings and there is a lock problem due to this, the contractor will be responsible for locksmith fees to fix the problem. If the combination is lost or forgotten, the only way to fix this is to drill the lock.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Products manufactured by Hamilton Products Group, Inc. carry a One (1) Year Warranty from the date of substantial completion of installation for factory defects under normal use. This warranty is limited to repairing or replacing parts under a reasonable time frame after the receipt of written notice as to such defect, and which its examination shall disclose to its satisfaction to have been defective. This warranty extends only to the original purchaser of the material and shall be void if the product is repaired or tampered with in any manner by anyone other than our authorized personnel. This warranty does not cover Acts of God, Terrorism, Water or Electrical Damage or Damage caused by the Customer or another Sub Contractor, etc. on the jobsite. If damage occurs in any of these manners, the Customer is responsible for lock or door repairs.
INSTALLATION SIGN OFF
Customer must "Sign Off" for acceptance of any doors being installed and tested by Vanguard International, Inc.
Sign Off agreement includes testing of the vault doors, testing of the locks in the presence of the customer, receipt of the vault door and day gate keys and overall acceptance of the doors as per plans and specifications. There will be one agreement form for each door set installed. These forms will be signed by the customer when presented by our installers.
Also, customer training is by paper work only and does not include a second trip to the job site for this purpose.

4 X-10 & CDX-10 High Security Locks GSA Approved
SECURE TRADITION
The Kaba Mas X-0 series is the trusted choice for securing the US Government’s most sensitive material. The X-0 series was first introduced in 1992 as the lock to meet the strict requirements of Federal Specification FF-L-2740. This specification is the US Government’s highest security standard for electro-mechanical locks. The X-10 represents the latest edition to this secure tradition. The X-10 is the GSA (General Services Administration) approved lock for FF-L-2740, latest revision B, Style 1 applications. The X-10 is approved by the GSA for use on approved Class 5 and 6 filing cabinets and Class 5 Security vault doors.
WHY THE X-10?
The X-10 was designed and developed as a direct result of the latest revision to federal specification FF-L-2740, now Revision
B. This revision calls for two distinctly different lock styles. Be aware that the characteristics and operating features of a
“Style 1” and “Style 2” lock are not equal! The X-10 is the only self-contained lock and clearly represents the best overall value.
The X-10 is the lock awarded the distinction of being approved for Style 1 Applications.
USER FRIENDLY FEATURES
The X-10 was designed with similar features and functions of its predecessor, the X-09. This minimizes the need for user training. The X-10 maintains the already familiar product operating features. The X-10 uses the same “Green” self-powered technology - simply rotate the dial to power-up the lock. The proprietary Kaba Mas self powered feature eliminates the concern of an unexpected failure due to battery life. The X-10 retains the same three security modes, along with a full complement of audit features.
WHAT’S NEW?
The following chart lists the enhanced features of the X-10 versus its predecessor the X-09:

The X-10 has been designed to enhance user friendly features, while improving security. For example, the lock case incorporates a through case mounting feature to improve ease of installation while protecting the lock’s internal electronics and mechanisms. The lock case has a security seal which provides a visible indication the lock has been accessed.
