About this opportunity

The procurement seeks an auction service provider to handle the remarketing of automobiles, trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and miscellaneous automotive items, with the primary objectives of generating revenue and adhering to municipal code regulations. Proposers must provide comprehensive auction services, including live auctions at a permanent facility within the nine-county Bay Area at least six times annually, detailed advertising, online vehicle listings, transportation, storage, and complete record-keeping. The city will evaluate proposals based on criteria such as proposal quality, proposed solution, company experience, cost, financial condition, performance ability, and compliance. Key requirements include submitting a detailed proposal covering company background, qualifications, project staffing, work plan, and financial stability. The proposal submission deadline is Wednesday, October 1, 2025, before 3:00 pm, with the anticipated contract covering a maximum period of three years.
The solicitation does not explicitly specify set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The City reserves the right to select multiple auctioneers based on their specific areas of expertise, suggesting an open competitive process. Contractors must meet stringent insurance requirements, including obtaining policies from companies with an AM Best's Key Rating of A-:VII or higher, with minimum coverage limits ranging from $1,000,000 for various liability types. The auction service provider will receive a commission on gross auction proceeds, with additional listing fees based on equipment type and location, ranging from $75 to $500. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated, the city's fleet inventory includes vehicles spanning model years from 1987 to 2024, representing a diverse range of assets from manufacturers like Ford, Chevrolet, Pierce, and International. The comprehensive nature of the inventory and the requirement for detailed auction result documentation suggest a potentially significant revenue generation opportunity for the selected vendor(s).
