About this opportunity
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is issuing a pre-solicitation notice for the procurement of Surface Movement Radar, Model 4 (SMR4) systems to replace the existing Airport Surface Detection Equipment Model 3 Surface Movement Radar (ASDE-3 SMR) at up to 34 locations. The FAA expects to utilize a largely Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) system and the procurement will include the purchase of SMR4 hardware and software, development of an interface between the SMR4 and the FAA's existing Surface Surveillance Systems, testing to verify the SMR4 meets requirements, installation and integration of the SMR4 systems, removal and disposition of the ASDE-3 SMRs, and design and installation of tower covers. The evaluation criteria will consider technical, management, past performance, cost/price, and small business subcontracting factors. The FAA is requesting industry feedback through a Request for Information (RFI), with responses due by November 21, 2022.
There is no set-aside designation for this procurement. The FAA did not identify any potential incumbents or current contractors. The total contract value or budget range was not provided, but the FAA expects to purchase up to 53 SMR4 systems across a base period and two option periods.
