Q&A SET 2
AMENDMENT/ADDENDUM 02
W91364-19-B-8001 FOR ACA Shelter
AT 180TH FIGHTER WING
Q18: Reference detail A4/A-311 & sheet A-701, the room schedule and the detail on Sheet A-311 call for masonry walls, however there is no specification for masonry. Wall partition types on sheet A-501 and floor plan do not show any masonry walls detail. Please clarify if these partitions are masonry or studs.
A18: A&E Response: Detail A4 on Sheet A-311 has been edited to remove the callout for masonry walls.
See amendment.
Q19: Reference sheet A-601, looks like the door schedule is not complete. Please complete the door schedule to include the missing information such as type of door, frame and hardware
A19: The Door Schedule on Sheet A-601 has been completed. See Amendment One.
Q20: Reference to Drawing S-101, note 3 indicate bottom of foundation being 3’-6” below finish floor of 100’, note 4 indicate top of footing elevation to be 98’, the footing schedule show spread footings depth to be 2’ deep, should we consider maintaining top of footing at 98’ and bottom of footings to be at 4’ below finish floor?
A20: A&E Response: Note 3 is a minimum bearing depth. Proceed with 98’ and thickness per schedule.
Q21: Specification section 055013 calls for 8” galvanized bollards however, detail B5 on sheet CS502 calls for 4” bollard, which one is correct.
A21: A&E Response: Specification Section 05 50 13 has been edited to change the bollard from 8 inches to 4 inches. See amendment.
Q22: Both specification section 033000 and 092900 refer to joint sealants section 079200 . The construction bid document provided did not include this section. Please provide.
A22: A&E Response: Specification Section 07 92 00 has been added to the specifications. See amendment.
Q23: The Specs, page 7, note the collateral load as 5 psf. The drawings sheet S-001 call for 10 psf gravity and 5 psf uplift.
A23: A&E Response: Collateral load is for uplift conditions. When considering uplift load combinations, it is permitted to use 5psf as dead load. When considering gravity loads, 10pdf shall be used.
Q24: What is to be included in the collateral load? There are infrared heaters, foam generators, ducts in Mechanical Bid No.1. Are these in addition to the collateral load or included in the collateral load? If not included in collateral load, well need figures on weight.
A24: A&E Response: Foam generators are not accounted for in collateral loads. Foam generator weight is listed on S-001. Confirm weight with actual equipment furnished.
Q25: Rake trim, Gutter (7” x 7” noted on drawings, Sheet A-021), and Downspouts (5” x 5” noted on drawings, Sheet A-201) are all non-standard sizes and configuration. Can we provide VP standard.
A25: A&E Response: It is acceptable to use the VP standard gutter as long as the size is greater than or equal to the size indicated on the drawings.
Q26: Pipe rack attached to outside flange of columns is noted on drawings, Sheet S007. Pipe weight?
What is height of horizontal member of rack? How will flashing of the rack to the wall panels work?
A26: A&E Response: Detail E5/S-007, the callout should read face of wall in lieu of face of building. If and where required coordinate with Mech/Fire protection for location and weights.
Q27: The fabric doors are in Section 8 of the specs. I don’t see any approved manufacturers. We’ll need some door design data to understand the connections and the load requirements.
A27: A&E Response: We are using UFGS Specifications for this project and they do not typically list manufacturers in them.
Q28: For Phase 2 work areas as shown on drawing GC011, will we need to provide barricades around the work area, and if so which type?
A28: A&E Response: Yes. Low-Profile Barricades are required around the project limits per sheet GC004
Q29: CG102 at south end of building shows an 8” SD2 storm line with leaders into it from building downspout locations. C3/CU502 makes note of 12” corrugated HDPE pipe for the drain leader. The size of pipe does not seem correct based on downspout size and the 8” storm line it is connecting to. Please confirm correct pipe sizes at these locations and that they will work with available cast iron boots.
A29: A&E Response: Pipe size should be 8” on detail C3/CU502, not 12” to align with the 8” pipe shown on CG102. A revised drawing of CU502 will be provided for clarity.
Q30: CG101 at north end of building shows what appear to be trench drains (CP101 makes note of them being trench drains) from down spout locations to main Trench Drain 1. Confirm if this is this correct and the intent is the down spouts are to discharge into trench drain or provide applicable detail
A30: A&E Response: Correct. See detail A5 on Sheet CU504. Downspout connection is shown on “Downspout Connection” section at the top of the page.
Q31: CG101 shows drain leader from SDMH-11 to northeast corner of building to pick up down spout.

Q32: Are there any detailed drawings for the existing shelters that we can give to the contractor salvaging them per the ABI description?
A32: The temp shelters were equipment purchase and the Base does not have detailed as-built for them.
Attaching couple files we do have. (Shelter specs, Shelter heating, Plate layout)
Q33: Can the jersey barriers use a J-hook connection in lieu of the loop and pin connection? Fence and lights will still be per details shown on the bid documents. Cut sheet attached for 10’ barrier. Please advise.
A33: A&E Response: J-Hook connections are adequate as long as the connections are secure and fastened at all times.
Q34: Per Additive Bid Item # 1 it states to demolish one existing shelter cell. The existing shelters have Vertical Lift Fabric Doors. Are the existing Vertical Lift Fabric Doors to be salvaged for storage?
A34: The Vertical Doors WILL NOT be required to be salvaged or stored.
Q35: Drawing CP101 Referenced the reinforced slab (shaded area) with a detail on G1 / CS502. Please provide a pavement section for the rest of the new Slab/Pavement (non-shaded).
A35: A&E Response: All concrete pavement sections shall conform to H1/CS500. G1/CS502 is for the reinforcing placement for shaded panels.
Q36: Specification Section 03 35 00 10 Lists numerous finishes. What concrete finish is required for the site concrete? What concrete finish is required for the SOG?

Q48: Referencing the “Single Source” requirement noted in the specs Division 13 34 19, page 13, Section
1.6.5. PEMB manufacturers do not manufacture insulated metal panels. They will come from a separate vendor such as MetlSpan or Kingspan.
A48: A&E Response: Our interpretation of the intent of the Government Standard UFGS spec is that the PEMB building will come from one supplier not from different subcontractors supplying and installing different portions of the PEMB. Where that qualified Supplier gets their pieces and parts is up to the subcontractor. It does not require the metal building supplier to manufacture all parts of the building, they can buy it from other venders.
Q49: A-701 Room Finish Schedule references Wall Material as Concrete Masonry Units. We do not find and walls being concrete masonry units?
A49: A&E Response: The Room Finish Schedule on sheet A-701 has been edited to remove the Concrete Masonry Unit. There are no Concrete Masonry Units in this project.
