About this file
This is Amendment 0004 to solicitation W912WJ25B0001, issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New England District, providing responses to 19 questions regarding painting and steel repairs on the Vertical Lift Railroad Bridge at Cape Cod Canal. The amendment, dated February 4, 2025, does not extend the offer due date.
Key clarifications include: the entire steel structure must be painted except for defined inaccessible areas; contractors must use equipment like scaffolding, lifts and climbing gear to access the structure; interior surfaces of C channels on the bridge deck are considered inaccessible and do not require painting; electrical conduit must be repainted to match the steel; the selected coating's VOC content cannot exceed 340 g/l; grease removed during cleaning does not need to be replaced; containment equipment cannot hang more than 5 feet below the lift span; and contractors must protect 6 antennas and transmission lines on both North and South tower spires. While a licensed electrician is not needed for cable protection during blasting/painting, one is required for any electrical work like temporary navigation light modifications.
