HURRICANE IKE REPAIRS – LA PORTE ANG FACILITIES
As of 21 Jul 09
1. I believe I heard you mention 1.5" ISO at the walkthrough but the specifications call for R=19 ISO (which is 3.1"). Can you clear up what thickness of ISO is to be used? (Possibly R=19 refers to the entire roof system including the existing lightweight concrete deck?)
Answer: SOW calls for 1 1/2" rigid insulation.
2. Are we looking for a complete reroof of the entire building 1 (including lower roofs at north east and north west of bldg #1)? Are we reroofing the side ledges of the building also? Or are you only looking for repairs at certain areas?
Answer: SOW calls for a complete reroof with tire back to existing concrete deck, removal and replacement of all edge flashing, gutters and downspouts for the 2nd story roof and the 1st story north western roof. Mechanical wing roof not included. In a previous question I stated that the roof to masonry wall flashing can be bent back and reused provided the final installation is watertight.
3. Has anyone done a core sample of the existing roof? Can anyone verify what the existing roof consists of? Is it definitely a lightweight concrete deck? What is the thickness of insulation over the lightweight? etc -- this is important so I can identify whether nailer heights around the perimeter of the roof should be raised and if the through-wall flashing along the brick wall can be re-used or cut and replaced should the field of roof raise significantly.
Answer: No core samples taken. Per existing drawings, consider built-up roof over 2" insulation.
4. Please help me to at least understand the correct scope of the roofing work as all I have are the specifications and roof sketch, and these are incomplete. If there was information that was passed out in the original walkthrough that went over the scope of work, could you please either fax it to me or email it?
Answer: No additional information was provided at the walkthrough. All information is posted at www.fbo.gov searching on this solicitation #.
