1. QUESTION: According to Attachment 13, Fort Sill MATOC Q&A Technical, Question #28:
According to Drawing MH-701:
Question - Per the response to Question #28 above, relays can be used to shut down each individual FCU. However, drawings MH 701 depicts a smoke detector for each FCU, to be installed as smoke duct detector. When air flow (CFM) is less than 2000 CFM, a smoke detector /duct detector is not required. The largest FCU at B4702 is 800 CFM. Please provide clarification if smoke/duct detectors are required or if relays can be used. If relays can be used, is it permissible to utilize the smoke detectors in the living quarters of each room to activate the

If required, the addition of smoke duct detectors will add massive costs to the project due to the need to install all new signal control wiring to each FCU, along with associated ceiling and wall demo, firestopping, etc. for each wiring run.
ANSWER: Room detectors may be used. System needs to be compliant with NFPA and UFC.
