About this file
This document outlines technical standards for computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) drawings and as-built site plans required under a construction contract at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The contractor must submit drawings in AutoCAD 2017 or Bentley MicroStation format and capture geo-referenced edits to existing sites resulting from the contract. As-built surveys are to be tied to the installation monument system using UTM or state plane coordinates and NAVD88 vertical datum. Site plans must depict features on unique layers and include building footprints, paving, fencing, utilities and appurtenances, structures, and prominent physical features. Final hard-copy drawings are to be printed on 24x36 paper with digital files in DWG or DGN format also provided. All files are to be delivered to the Fort Knox Directorate of Public Works Installation Geospatial Information and Services office within 30 days of project completion.

Drawing scale units shall be in the English system. Regardless of the CADD program the Contractor uses in-house, drawing submittals for all drawings shall be in an AutoDesk AutoCAD V 2017, Bentley Microstation Release 8 or a compatible approved equal.
A graphic scale shall be shown on each sheet of the drawing.
CAD files shall be bound and should minimize external references (XREF’s) when possible. Any and all referenced drawing XREF’s shall be included in submission to the DPW.
Site & Civil Specific Related Drawing Standards
The Contractor shall capture geo-referenced edits of all changes that will occur to new of existing sites (facility footprint, utility installations and alterations, roads, parking areas, etc.) as a result of this contract. The Contractor shall provide georeferenced As-Built data compiled from georeferenced field surveys or performed by a Registered Professional Land Surveyor.
This work shall be tied into the installation monument system on Universal Transverse
Mercator (UTM) or State Plane (STPL) projection for horizontal locations. Coordinates will be in either U.S. survey feet or meters based on the associated projection (UTM or STPL).
Vertical elevations will use the NAVD 88 datum, based on installation monuments. The As-
Built survey shall be shown on standard drawing sheets. All submitted site/civil drawings must reference the horizontal datums & vertical datums (if applicable) used in the creation of the As-
Built drawing. The Fort Knox IGI&S office can supply an initial georeferenced CAD file for site/civil drawings.
Site and Civil specific information contained on the As-Built drawings shall consist of but not be limited to:
Building footprints
Paving (roads, parking lots, hardstands, pads, walks, etc.)
Fencing
Utilities (water, sewer, storm drainage, steam, electric, telephone, fiber optics, gas or fuel, etc., and associated appurtenances)
Poles, transformer, manholes, valves, tees, hydrants, caps, and any other appurtenances associated with utilities Abandoned utilities, and noted if abandoned in place or removed
Structures (bridges, testing facilities, etc.)
Prominent physical features
Others as required
The Contractor will prepare the AutoCAD (DWG) or MicroStation (DGN) files by placing different features on unique layers (i.e. each unique, actual ground condition physical feature will be depicted by unique digital layers).
The limits of the site / civil As-Built plans shall be from the point in which new work ties into existing features and infrastructure to and including the building or structure footprint.
Hard-copy Drawing Requirements
Final construction contract drawings and As-Built drawings submitted for official government records shall be digital and placed on 24" x 36" white bond paper.
A graphic scale shall be shown on each sheet of the drawings.
Digital Drawing Requirements
One set of digital files consisting of either AutoCAD (DWG) or MicroStation V8 (DGN) format that were used to generate the required As-Built drawings.
Searchable PDF shall be also be provided for each final submitted drawing.
Drawing Delivery Requirements
These files are to be delivered to the Fort Knox DPW Installation Geospatial
Information and Services (IGI&S) office within 30 days of the project completion.
Project completion is defined as the point in time in which the project is released back to the government for its intended utilization. Delivery of As-Built drawings or data on any type of removable storage media (ex. thumb drives, external hard drives) is not permitted and will not be accepted or considered as an approved deliverable.
