Legend

Cover parts with Corrosion Preventive Compound (CPC) Grade 2 (App. C, item 125) and loosely wrap in Grease Proof Barrier Material (App. C, item 128). CPC Grade 2 (App. C, item 125) is used to protect the parts from corrosion during re-work, shipment, and storage.

B

Cover parts with CPC Grade 3 (App. C, item 126) and loosely wrap in Grease Proof Barrier Material (App. C, 128). CPC Grade 3 (App. C, item 126) is used for displacement of water, and short term surface corrosion protection. This process is required during shipment, storage, and re-work.

C

Cover parts with CPC Grade 4 (App. C, item 127) and loosely wrap in Grease Proof Barrier Material (App. C, 128). CPC Grade 4 (App. C, item 127) is used to protect the parts from corrosion during indoor storage when a transparent coating is required. This process is also required corrosion protection for internal flight control cables.

D

Cover parts with CPC Type II (App. C, item 129) and loosely wrap in B Grease Proof Barrier Material (App.

128). CPC Grade Type II (App. C, item 129) is used for the displacement of water, and short term surface corrosion protection; during shipment, storage, and re-work. This required process all provides corrosion protection to moving parts such as hinge areas, bomb racks, and sliding parts.

To meet this category a Lubricating Oil (App. C, item 132) must be added frequently to parts to maintain lubrication.

E

Cover parts with CPC Type III (App. C, item 130) and loosely wrap in Grease Proof Barrier Material (App. 128). CPC Type III (App. C, item 130) is used for displacement of water, and corrosion protection. Application includes: avionics equipment, electrical connector plugs and contact pins.

F

Cover parts with Cleaning & Lubricating Compound (C&LC) Grade B (App. C, item 131) and loosely wrap in Grease Proof Barrier Material (App. C, item 128). C&LC Grade B (App. C, item 131) is used for corrosion protection of moveable parts requiring minimal lubrication. Together CPC Type II (App. C, item 129) and Lubricating Oil (App. C, item 132) provides better water displacement/corrosion protection.

G

Cover parts with either Grease Proof Barrier Material Type 1 or 3 (App C. item 133, or 134). Type 1 (App.

C item 133) is water vapor, electrostatic, and electromagnetic resistant. This protection is used on microcircuits, semiconductors, transistors, and sensitive resistors. Type 3 (App. C, item 134) is used where a transparent, electrostatic, water resistant barrier is required. This Type is limited to a wrap or bag.

H

Cover parts in Lubricating oil (App. C, item 133) and loosely wrap in Grease Proof Barrier Material (App. C, item 128). This combination is used in low temperature (up to -40 °F) conditions where water displacing lubricant is required. Must re-apply frequently to prevent product failure.

I

Fluid Film AS (Non-Aerosol “NAS” Pump) is a solvent free and non-toxic alternate CPC. This alternative CPC is available for use if the prior listed CPC’s are prohibited by regulations.

J

Composite parts with exposed aluminum lightning mesh or lightning foil require immediate coverage with a Corrosion Resistant Coating (App. C, item 135). Exposed surfaces must be treated immediately after removal of primer.
