3-11.7.1 .d.
REPLACE 3-11.7.1 with the following:
"Void Inspection Method. A coin, as described below, or similar device such as a small hammer, may be used for tap testing to determine the size and shape of bond separations, as indicated by a dead sound, between skin and honeycomb core and skin and abrasion strip bond areas. Alternative tap testing tools must be capable of identifying local flaws with the same degree of accuracy as the coin and have round smooth edged of sufficient radius to prevent damaging the material when tap testing. Tap testing shall be performed by experienced personnel."
ADD new paragraph d. as follows:
"Ultrasonic devices may be used to supplement tap testing for bond separation, especially in cases where tap testing is inconclusive, provided reliability of this method has been established."
