CCAD Request
The tip end skin on each paddle face is bonded to the spar through an expanding adhesive. Disbonds/voids are detected in a percentage of the blades being overhauled at CCAD. Sikorsky Aircraft Company (SAC) has a repair procedure, but this involves drilling a hole in the skin which is only fractions of an inch away from the carbon fiber spar. To alleviate any spar damage, allowable limits without repair have been determined.
