System Contents
The P2 is a mobile, voice and touch activated device that translates English phrases into other language
When you speak a phrase, the P2 speaks the equivalent phrase in the target language you choose
Phrases are predetermined by industry experts and audio recorded by native linguists to ensure accurate and successful communication
While the P2 is a one-way translation device (English to other languages), phrases are designed to prompt responses that can be conveyed using gestures or visual aids
The P2 is not intended to replace an interpreter but can facilitate immediate and necessary communication when one is not available
The diversity of phrases and languages available for the P2 make it a powerful tool for anyone who needs to communicate with non-English speakers
The P2 translation device is used to ask yes-no questions where the response can be given with gestures.
For example: “Do you feel sick?” “Move your head like this for yes.” “Move your head like this for no.”
To give orders or instructions.
For example: “Keep very still.”
To ask questions when the response can be to point to something.
For example: “Show me where it hurts most.”
To convey information.
For example: “We must evacuate the area.”
Uses
TURNING ON DEVICE
Press and release POWER button on the front of the Translation Device to turn it on.
NOTE
From the OFF power mode, the user will automatically be taken back to the last screen displayed before exiting.
If the Translation Device is in DEEP SLEEP mode, date/time reset is necessary before the application opens.
The screen prompts should be followed when powering up from DEEP SLEEP mode.
POWER MODES
The Translation Device has three power modes: ON, OFF and DEEP SLEEP. The rechargeable battery can be recharged in any of these modes
NOTE
When the Translation Device is in ON mode, the batteries are being drained and will eventually need to be recharged.
Off When the Translation Device is in OFF mode, settings are preserved but battery power continues to drain (though at a slower rate). When the Translation Device is turned back on, it immediately goes back to the previous screen. This setting is best used for short periods of non-use.
Deep Sleep When the Translation Device is in DEEP SLEEP mode, the batteries are not being drained. Put the device in DEEP SLEEP mode only when not using it for long periods of time. After placing the device in DEEP SLEEP mode, the device will require date/time reset when turned back to ON mode. When fully charged, the rechargeable batteries will last for approximately 6 hours (constant use) in the ON mode. To conserve battery power, place the device in DEEP SLEEP mode.
POWER MODES
PLACING DEVICE IN OFF MODE
Firmly press and release the POWER button.
PLACING DEVICE IN DEEP SLEEP MODE
Press and hold the POWER button for 10 seconds. A screen display counts down and then displays a message indicating that the device will shut down as soon as POWER button is released. When POWER button is released, the device is in DEEP SLEEP mode.
