About this file

This document is an Infection Control Risk Assessment for a construction project to expand parking at the Joliet Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The project involves work in all areas of the clinic from December 2023 through November 2024.

The assessment establishes four construction activity types - A through D - involving different levels of dust and four corresponding infection control risk groups. It provides a matrix to determine the appropriate project class based on the construction activity type and risk group of the area. Higher project classes involve more stringent infection control procedures. Class I requires basic precautions while Class IV, for work in highest risk areas like operating rooms, necessitates additional measures including terminal cleaning inside and outside containment barriers.

The document outlines specific infection control actions required for each project class, covering containment, barriers, ventilation, personal protective equipment, cleaning and waste removal procedures. Signatures are required from the contractor, project planner and infection control personnel to acknowledge the assessment. The related federal contract opportunity was cancelled for the parking expansion construction work at the Joliet CBOC to be performed under the infection control guidelines provided in the risk assessment.
