About this file
This document is a justification for using other than full and open competition to acquire Rauland Responder V nurse call and code blue systems for a Department of Veterans Affairs medical center renovation project. The justification cites the need for compatibility with existing Rauland equipment throughout the facility for patient safety. Market research found no other manufacturer can provide full integration. The acquisition will be competed on SAM.gov indicating the brand name requirement. The contracting officer determined pricing will be fair based on commercial rates. Future requirements may use brand name or equal language if in the government's best interest.
